About the Company
Monroe Capital is a $18.4 billion asset management firm specializing in private credit markets across various strategies including direct lending, software & technology, specialty finance, opportunistic, structured credit and private equity. The firm is headquartered in Chicago, and maintains offices in New York, Los Angeles, Naples, and Seoul.
Monroe is seeking restructuring/turnaround/credit professionals in a role managing existing investments in direct, club and syndicated leveraged loan transactions. The candidate will work as part of a team focusing on early intervention and managing Monroe’s higher risk rated investments (senior debt, junior capital, and equity).
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have experience with the following:
- Lead in the management of a select portfolio of the firm’s higher risk rated investments through enhanced financial/operational monitoring and frequent interaction with company management, financial sponsors, and third-party consultants/financial advisors.
- Design, develop and implement strategies for maximizing portfolio investment recoveries.
- Prepare analysis and modeling of potential restructuring alternatives.
- Conduct negotiation with various constituencies including financial sponsors, company management, other bank group members, and other lenders in the capital structure.
- Coordinate and manage legal counsel and other external professionals, including consultants and financial advisors.
- Prepare and present restructure/amendment/waiver memorandums.
- Provide regular financial and strategic updates (both written and verbal) on portfolio accounts.
- Participate in review and negotiation of legal terms and documentation on individual transactions/amendments/waivers.
- Review and analyze Borrower financial reporting, monitor key performance indicators, and track operational and financial trends.
- Maintain knowledge of business and market trends that may affect portfolio performance.
Requirements
An ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have 3-7 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Principal investing (e.g., private credit, private equity, etc.)
- Special situations investment banking (debt placements, refinancing or distressed M&A)
- Restructuring/turnaround/lender advisory or interim management
- Leveraged finance and portfolio management
- Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record from a top-tier undergraduate university
- Strong research, accounting and financial analysis skills, with the ability to build financial models, analyze financial statements, and interpret cash flow dynamics
- Extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products (especially Excel)
- Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced setting with proficiency at multi-task on multiple projects/deals, focus on detail and accuracy and follow-through
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
