ABOUT COMMONFUND
Commonfund is an investment management firm serving the institutional market with a particular focus on the nonprofit sector including endowments, foundations, healthcare organizations, and other mid-sized institutions. Commonfund was founded in 1971 with a two-part mission: to create investment solutions for nonprofits that previously did not have the scale and access to high-quality investment managers and to develop educational programs that would bring current best practices to institutional investors of all sizes and segments.
Commonfund has changed and grown dramatically over the years, expanding its investment solution offerings and the client segments served. Today, Commonfund manages approximately $28 billion on behalf of almost 1,700 institutions with a focus on three primary activities: Outsourced solutions (OCIO); alternative investment strategies (hedge funds and private capital); and research and advice on various investment and governance topics through the Commonfund Institute.
Commonfund OCIO provides total portfolio management for endowment and foundation clients. Our total institutional approach to investment management involves addressing wide-ranging factors that extend well beyond portfolio management. We apply the endowment model of investing to institutional portfolios and provide investment flexibility by using independent sub-advisers for discretionary and non-discretionary outsourcing engagements. Our programs incorporate both active and passive strategies in equities, fixed income, hedge funds, real assets, and private capital.
