State Street Global Advisors manages over $4 Trillion in AUM globally across a full spectrum of asset classes and investment styles. Accurate and timely performance and analytics data is key for our Investment team, our clients and for internal governance.
The
SSGA Head of Performance & Analytics is responsible for all performance lifecycle activities including the following key responsibilities:
- Own performance & analytics policies and standards – and ensure these are correctly applied in performance lifecycle activities.
- Ownership of performance lifecycle activities – which includes performance returns calculations, attribution and explanation of results and deviations.
- SSGA has outsourced certain activities to Global Delivery – Performance Management Group (“PMG”). This position is responsible for management and oversight of outsourced activities to agreed service levels (a core outsourced activity is the production of monthly performance and attribution reports). This position is responsible for setting service standards, ensuring performance is calculated with approved methodologies and in accordance with defined service levels, acting as an escalation point to resolve issues, and seeking ways to make constant improvements.
- Set and execute the strategy for the function – including IT roadmap in the context of our broader Middle Office IT strategy. Ensure we have the capabilities to meet the evolving and increasingly complex demands of our investment teams and clients.
- Drive establishment of SSGA Performance & Analytics team through centralization of responsibilities and transition of analysis work from Investment teams.
- Act as visible owner and leader for Performance & Analytics within SSGA – including for the Investment team which are a key user of performance data.
- Manage the SSGA retained Performance & Analytics team – a team of professionals responsible for delivering support and services that allow Portfolio Managers to focus on their core responsibilities. These services include performance explanation used in client reporting, investigation and resolution of unexplained breaks and internal reporting required for governance. The team will also have responsibility for custom attribution until we are confident it can be provided by our service provider.
- As Data Owner for performance data, understand consumer data requirements across the organization and drive execution of improvements to deliver “trusted data” across the organization.
- Lead domain engagement on key firmwide transversal initiatives – such as the deployment of our new “NextGen” client reporting system.
- Oversight application of GIPS performance standards; and reporting.
The position sits within the SSGA COO organization, reporting to the Global Head of Strategic Partner Oversight.

- Technical skills: strong domain knowledge is required. There will be times where the successful candidate will need to “roll-up their sleeves” to resolve unexplained variances or attribution questions.
The ideal candidate will have relevant experience and track record of success including:
- Strong experience in the financial services industry for +12-15 years. Deep experience in performance and analytics, as well as a good understanding of the broader Middle Office ecosystem.
- BA/ BS or equivalent degree, preferably with a financial or business discipline; completion of CFA is a plus
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage expectations in a fast paced, complex environment
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to work independently
- The ability to manage a team creating an environment of cohesion and engagement
- Strong ability to motivate, mentor and engage high performing teams

Salary Range
$160,000 - $250,000 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
