Position Overview:
We are seeking a Risk Management Associate or Senior Associate to assist with the development and management of Kayne’s risk management and insurance programs. Reporting to the VP of Risk Management & Insurance within Legal, this person will join a team that is responsible for assessing, mitigating, and managing Kayne Anderson’s Real Estate risk management and insurance programs. The successful candidate is a team player with willingness to roll up their sleeves and effectively manage risk.
Essential Job Functions (Duties/Responsibilities):
- Assist with the implementation of overall risk management initiatives across verticals
- Manage and possess knowledge of the claims process across various lines of coverage (property, general and professional liability, Builder’s Risk, etc.)
- Receive and process claim notices, liens, and lawsuits along with other reports related to claims and litigations. Liaise with internal and external counsel in setting and pursuing effective and cost-efficient litigation strategies.
- Manage claims and litigation and act as a liaison to insurance carriers and legal counsel
- Document and communicate claim activity timely, effectively and in a manner which supports the proper outcome of the claim or litigation file. This includes ensuring timely and adequate reporting, proper investigation, overall claim management and settlement authorization consults.
- Maintain claims data and metrics to provide regular monthly reporting
- Collaborate with internal Kayne business units and external business partners on insurance related activity
- Identify, communicate, and champion process improvement opportunities
- Provide support with the daily insurance requests received by the risk management department
- Gather and compile data used in insurance policy renewal process
- Perform other risk management related duties and complete special projects and/or duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field with 3-5 years of claims management and insurance and risk management experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Preferably a candidate with a legal background who possesses a comprehensive understanding of the litigation process and can provide informed recommendations on the next steps.
- Energetic and focused personality with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully manage and prioritize multiple competing assignments, and effectively manage deadlines.
- Must be highly proficient and fully functional in Microsoft Office
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are required.
