OVERVIEW:
The D. E. Shaw group seeks an associate to join its Treasury team to focus on financing credit investments for our hedge fund and private credit businesses. The role offers the opportunity to partner with investment teams to ensure financing arrangements align with investment objectives, and gain exposure to various credit products and leverage formats, in an inclusive, collaborative, and engaging working environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
Your responsibilities will include structuring, execution, and risk management of financing transactions backed by credit assets including corporate bonds, leveraged loans, asset-backed securities, and private credit. You will help oversee the financing book, including margin optimization and leverage facility management. You will also be required to maintain relationships across our funding providers at investment banks and non-bank lenders. Proactively analyzing market trends and identifying unique opportunities to access leverage capacity within and outside of the banking system are core aspects of the role. You will be involved in the development and implementation of consistent and robust financing processes in the public and private credit spaces. In addition to working with investment teams, you will work closely with our Technology, Legal, Compliance, and Tax functions on all stages of financing product development.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Candidates will have a bachelor’s degree and at least three years of relevant experience at a buy-side firm or investment bank.
- Applicants should be familiar with financing arrangements and credit underwriting processes. This includes experience financing credit and structured assets with repurchase agreements, margin loans, recourse and non-recourse credit lines and facilities, total return swaps, repackaging, and synthetic securitizations.
- Applicants should have experience developing and maintaining financial models and forecasts.
Keen attention to detail, well-developed written and verbal communication skills, and a demonstrated interest in financial markets are all essential attributes for this role.
- Experience in end-to-end financing product development and transaction lifecycle management is valuable for this role.
- Experience conducting fundamental credit or quantitative investment analysis is preferred but not required
- The expected annual base salary for this position is $135,000 to $175,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401k contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
