What You’ll Be Doing
Human Resources works in partnership with CIBC's business units to enhance organizational performance, the employee experience and advance CIBC's overall corporate strategy. The group delivers integrated human resources solutions in recruitment, talent management, training and development, performance management and measurement, organizational design, employee relations, as well as policy and operations.
As the Senior Corporate Health & Safety Consultant, you will be accountable for providing proactive, specialized, and strategic health and safety advice/consultation and to work with the Director, HR Regulatory Governance and AVP, Human Resources (US Region) in the design, development, and implementation of health and safety programs, processes and tools to provide a healthy and safe workplace for all employees, clients, visitors and service providers at CIBC work locations in the US, and to comply with applicable laws to prevent workplace accidents and violence in the workplace.

How You’ll Succeed
Health & Safety Consulting – Handle complex and sensitive workplace issues and solutions, such as work refusals, investigations by government health and safety inspectors, and accommodation issues related to returning employees with work-related injuries to the workplace. Respond promptly requests for advice and guidance on health and safety issues from people leaders, employees, health and safety representatives and other internal partners across the organization. Provide expert advice and consultation to HR and business partners on corporate, HR, and business initiatives to ensure health and safety issues are identified and addressed.
Incident Reporting and Analysis – Manage day-to-day accident reporting and workers’ compensation and non-workers’ compensation claims management processes to meet CIBC program and regulatory compliance. Analyze data and prepare reports on workplace accident and injury claims management for senior HR, business management.
Process Improvement and Implementation – Work with the Director, HR Regulatory Governance and AVP, Human Resources (US Region) to identify, develop, implement, and monitor innovative and effective health and safety strategies, programs, processes, and tools to ensure alignment with CIBC strategy, business, and legislative requirements. Develop and implement tools, training, and other supports for CIBC’s US Health and Safety program.
Regulatory Reporting – Support the development and implementation of processes and procedures to meet all regulatory reporting requirements including: the completion and submission of; employer accident reports to federal and state government agencies (i.e., OSHA, workers’ compensation boards, etc.)

You can demonstrate comprehensive knowledge in federal and state occupational safety and health legislation, with 5-7 years of health and safety consulting experience and a University degree.
You can demonstrate experience in the design, development, implementation of health and safety workers’ compensation claims management programs and processes in a large and complex enterprise. Corporate Environment Health & Safety experience preferred.
It’s an asset if you are a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other recognized Safety Professional Certification.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $95,000 - $100,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
