Responsibilities
Oaktree’s Portfolio Construction and Risk Management team is looking for a Portfolio Analyst to support our High Yield, Leverage Loan, and other investment teams. We are seeking a hardworking individual with a passion for fixed income markets and investment technologies. The individual is expected to develop into a subject matter expert in the High Yield and Leverage Loan portfolios, markets, analytics, reporting, and investment technologies for the firm. In this capacity, they will be a resource for questions from various departments of the firm including portfolio management, product specialist, client services, and technology. There will be a strong emphasis on leveraging current technology solutions for scale and efficiency delivering reports and analysis in an accurate, consistent, and timely manner.
Responsibilities include:
- Architect and formalize tools and code to analyze datasets using SQL, Python etc. to develop investment insights.
- Understand general departmental data extraction and modeling - planning and design.
- Understanding the menu of work that PCRM is responsible for, within Oaktree.
- Understand the data and technology architecture at Oaktree
- Speak to external data vendors and assess how their offerings could benefit Oaktree
- Prepare analysis and reporting for our portfolio management teams;
- Collaborating with Business Analysts and Information Technology for automation and expanding our technology platform;
- Maintain the firm datasets used to aid portfolio management
Qualifications
3 to 6 years of experience working at an Asset Management company, Investment Bank or other related financial services company (including financial services technology vendors) in a risk management, portfolio operations and analysis capacity;
- Outstanding analytical skills;
- Strong technical/ programming skills, including intermediate/ advanced Python, SQL, some familiarity with databases, visualization tools. Ideally majoring in engineering or a hard science.
- Statistical and modeling skills
- Knowledge of big data methods, finance applications, etc.
- Fluency in basic Python libraries, as well as more scientifically oriented ones.
- Familiarity with AI/ ML packages as applied to finance
- Experience working with large datasets
- Familiarity with cloud-based technologies and AWS a plus
- Some understanding of finance and economics. Familiarity with private financial markets highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Credit instruments (High Yield Bonds, Leveraged Loans, Convertible Securities, Structured Credit etc.);

Education
Bachelor’s Degree required. Masters Degree in Finance, Financial Engineering accepted.
Base Salary Range
Associate: $105,000 - $135,000
Senior Associate: $120,000 - $155,000
In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package and a flexible work arrangement. The base salary offered will be commensurate with experience and/or qualifications, industry knowledge and expertise, as well as prior training and education.
