About The Opportunity
Mutual Series is a specialist investment manager of Franklin Templeton managing in excess of $30 billion across a range of global value-oriented strategies. We are looking for an
Associate Product Specialist to join our team with the flexibility to help support a variety of domestic, international, and global equity investment strategies. Mutual Series’ Global Strategy team is responsible for providing leadership in ensuring that Mutual’s investment products are positioned at the highest levels of investment market standards, and that this is effectively communicated internally and externally. The Associate Product Specialist will support the efforts of the broader Mutual Series product strategy team, which acts as a liaison between investment management, distribution, and other internal and external business partners. The Mutual Series investment team is based in
Short Hills, New Jersey and we would expect the Associate Product Specialist to be
in office a minimum of 2-3 days per week.
This role is responsible for supporting the gathering and retention of assets under management by providing clients, prospects, internal partners with ongoing updates about the investment philosophy, process, and performance of specific products. Associate Product Specialists demonstrate their knowledge of the investment management industry and products by serving as the first point of contact for general questions on investment strategies.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of an Associate Product Specialist?
- Effectively answering client servicing questions, articulating investment team views, and responding to performance questions and other investment-related topics for assigned strategies.
- Building and maintaining an expert level of knowledge on assigned funds and mutual fund categories, providing regular feedback on competitive intelligence and product development opportunities; includes collecting information to research and analyze all aspects of competitor products, peer performance and competitive industry landscape.
- Providing ongoing research and analysis in support of product positioning, portfolio attribution and performance analysis, investment process and strategy details, writing investment commentary and proactive portfolio updates (e.g., explaining changes in portfolio holdings and key portfolio themes) to internal audiences.
- Supporting portfolio managers and product specialists in developing marketing presentations and communications to internal and external audiences.
- Ensuring projects are executed according to the vision and implemented within deadlines.
- Providing product information to internal business partners and others responsible for producing and delivering content to internal and external audiences.
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?
- Undergraduate degree required; emphasis in Finance or Economics desired.
- 2-5 years of financial services experience, preferably with a focus on investment management.
- Intellectually curious with an enthusiasm for financial markets and investing.
- Knowledge of global markets, economics, and portfolio theory.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of investment and portfolio management processes.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required.
- Knowledge of data sources for performance, flows and relevant competitive information is a plus (Morningstar, Lipper, FactSet, Bloomberg).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High energy, self-starter with excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work professionally in an individual and team environment.
- CFA (or working toward completion) is a plus.
Compensation Range: Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. The salary, benefits and variable rewards will reflect the seniority of the position and a competitive market rate. We expect the annual salary for this position to range between $105,000 to $125,000, in addition to a competitive bonus.
