OVERVIEW:
The D. E. Shaw group seeks an analyst with an impressive combination of commercial intuition, operational experience, excellent critical and strategic thinking skills, and communication abilities to join its Finance and Operations Strategy team. The team is responsible for overseeing and implementing improvements to the firm’s third-party financial operations service providers and reports to the CFO. This individual will contribute to the firm’s operations strategy. The role offers the chance to be part of an inclusive and collegial working environment.
WHAT YOU’LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
You’ll work on projects to improve the firm’s controls and oversight of third-party service providers, technology, and financial operations support. You’ll be responsible for advancing projects by collaborating with teams inside and outside of the organization, creating process documentation, and monitoring goals and deadlines.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- A bachelor’s degree, a demonstrated record of professional achievement, and at least five years of experience in comparable, cross-functional positions are required.
- Adept project managers who can shape and drive initiatives, have a keen eye for continuous improvement, and can effectively manage through influence will excel in this role. A proven track record of collaborating well with peers and other stakeholders is essential.
- An openness to various perspectives is critical, as is big-picture thinking and the ability to learn new domains quickly.
- Knowledge of and experience with finance and asset management is preferred, as is some familiarity with automation projects.
- We seek applicants with effective written communication and analytical skills, sound judgment, and a high level of discretion who can context shift easily and anticipate potential issues.
- The expected annual base salary for this position is $175,000 to $225,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
