Position Description
The Investment Risk position is a senior role within the SSGA ERM Investment Risk team. This person will work with a team of risk specialists to create, improve, and implement investment risk processes for SSGA. Functional responsibility will include providing risk oversight for portfolio exposures, covering a range of areas fixed income, cash, currency, private credit, and regulatory issues and reporting.
This position requires the ability to grasp complex concepts coupled with a solid understanding of the various different fixed income assets and financial instruments, risk measurement and analytics, quantitative modeling, and risk management techniques. The role involves interactions with SSGA investment teams globally, including portfolio management, product management, legal, and operations, depending on the task at hand. The position requires interaction with senior management, and ability to effectively communicate, in both written and verbal form, complex analytical processes to clients and regulators globally.
The individual should be well versed in a wide range of quantitative methods and financial products as well as have a demonstrated ability to work on independent projects with limited supervision as well as contribute in a team setting.
Qualifications, Skills And Experience
- 8 - 10 years’ experience in data analysis, risk management, and/or risk systems
- Strong knowledge of stress testing and securities markets (fixed income, currency, or cash) in investment management, risk management, consulting, and/or an analytical systems
- Ability to recognize broad economic trends, determine risk implications beyond the portfolio level, and communicate the resulting risks
- Experience with risk concepts and database tools are required, with specific skills in Bloomberg considered a plus
- Programming skills (R, VBA, Matlab) is a plus
- Skill in Tableau design is a plus
- Proven project management, team-building, interpersonal, and analytical skills
- Strong multitasking skills, ability to successfully manage a number of work streams to deadlines and standards of quality
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to work with all levels of personnel across the organization, including senior executives
- High degree of attention to detail and focus on efficient and error-free execution
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business-related field or equivalent experience. CFA or FRM a plus

Salary Range
$120,000 - $202,500 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
