The Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) provides death, disability, and pension retirement benefits to employees of local governments and school districts in Illinois (with the exception of the City of Chicago and Cook County). As is the second largest - and best funded - statewide public pension system in Illinois, IMRF services over 3,000 municipal employers in the State. The Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) is looking for a dynamic and detail orientated HR Generalist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HR practices, and the ability to manage various HR functions efficiently. Our HR Generalist will provide high-quality Human Resources services which assist in attracting and retaining our employees at IMRF.
The successful candidate will:
- Recruit candidates through a structured approach to recruiting, incorporating best practices to attract top talent to the organization.
- Develop and administer benefit programs for staff and retirees, including medical plans, dental, life, 457, flexible spending, health savings, Employee Assistance Program, and transit program. Communicate benefit information to employees and respond to employee requests for information.
- Administer leave of absence process, including FMLA.
- Assist in the administration of the employee wellness programs.
- Responsible for new employee orientation, including individual and group sessions.
- Administer our fire/safety/medical emergency program, including CPR and first-aid training certifications.
- Facilitate the selection process including evaluation of resumes and applications, conduct screening interview, conduct background checks, recommend applicant assessment tools, and evaluate applicant qualifications as measured against job requirements and needs of IMRF.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a business-related major is required. HR major is strongly preferred.
- Professional certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) and/or Employee Benefits (CEBS or CBP) is required
- Minimum of 2 years in recruiting in an HR Department
- Experience administering an employee benefits program a plus
- Have a working knowledge of all laws and regulations affecting benefit administration and recruitment
The expected annual salary range for this role is $62,000 - $80,000. Please note the salary information is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. The range listed is just one component of IMRF's total compensation package for employees. Other factors include the following benefits:
