SUMMARY
The Business Solutions Lead will:
• Participate in analyzing and capturing business requirements that meet end user needs for IMRF modernization projects.
• Provide guidance to Business Process Owners on process improvements (re-engineering) to improve service, efficiency, and experience for systems users.
• Work with IMRF business, IS staff, and solution providers to design and implement enterprise business solutions.
• Participate in the implementation of new applications which retain current system strengths.
• Champion enterprise-wide change management.
• Support training, documentation and testing of new functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform duties in the evaluation, design, development, testing, implementation, documentation, research, data compilation, and analysis of business processes and make related recommendations to improve business processes and enterprise solutions.
Analysis
• Consider the implications for end-users of applying technology to the current and future business environments to identify gaps and areas in need of improvement.
• Advise and consult with staff to ensure that the legal interpretations of the Illinois Pension Code are being followed for the following areas, which include but are not limited to: benefit calculation and claims; employer and member account management, past service management, employer and member self-service, etc.
• Promote cross-program alignment and integration of processes globally throughout IMRF business areas.
• Help capture all data elements required for process models, including the key success metrics, operational and compliance metrics.
• Analyze and design data modeling processes including activities related to data validation and clean-up, conversion and testing.
• Support key changes impacting internal or external customers to support organizational change management.
• First point of escalation for colleagues’ questions and reporting of issues regarding the solution.
• Manages the overall ongoing support for their functional area (Member Services, Employer Services, Reporting, Payroll, Finance) of the solution.
• Understand the Horizon Solution and promote knowledge growth among their colleagues.
• Understanding data input and output of processes for functional area.
• Submit tickets to COTS vendor for support and monitor resolution of tickets.
• Participate in ticket review and prioritization meetings (frequency to be determined) with COTS vendor.
• Works with the Business Process Owner, Technical Lead and Integrated Technical Analyst to optimize escalation and resolution process by keeping them informed on business impacts, areas of concern and escalations.
• Provide feedback to the Business Process Owner regarding opportunities for ongoing training to colleagues.
Collaboration
• Collaborate with Business Process Owners, lead subject matter experts, IS partners and project team members to design high performing future state applications. Review design documents/deliverables to ensure they correctly capture design decisions made before they are sent to the Business Process Owner for final review and approval.
• Support other IMRF Staff to develop end-user documentation and training materials. Support end-user training delivery.
• Provide user support and guidance in the application of business system functions.
• Support planning and issue resolution, solution test planning and execution.
• Adhere to project management processes and methodology.
Testing
• Audit changes and results. Prepare test cases, execute testing and evaluate test results. Support User Acceptance Testing.
• Collaborate with implementation team to ensure all the business requirements are captured in test cases.
• Provide support by developing test cases and test scripts for user acceptance testing.
• Utilize CPI/DMAIC tools and methodologies in systems development, testing and acceptance practices.
Deliverables
• Develop and document supporting business process information for purposes of decision-making, consistency, and alignment (i.e., organizational strategic goals, action items, terminology, business rules, and pension code). Follow IAPI process to facilitate decision making when required.
• Develop business process flows and align with appropriate Business Process Owners to ensure that future state process designs are translated into the appropriate procedural documents to ensure success of future daily operations.
• Write, update, and organize supporting project documentation when needed.
• Communicate significant knowledge of IMRF system data - the inputs, processes, and outputs through written documentation and verbal description.
• Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

• Business experience in key area of the Horizon Solution.
• Overall general knowledge and exhaustive business process knowledge in key area of the Ariel Solution.
• Highly organized, both logical and strategic thinking.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Required
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in pension processes such as claims processes; employer and member account management; wage reporting; past service applications and payments; or member and employer self-service.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with cross-functional teams in the analysis and design of business processes and solutions.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the creation of test plans, execution of testing and acceptance of systems’ modifications.
• Proficiency in MSOffice Suite.
Preferred
• Bachelors of Science or Bachelors of Arts in Management, Business Administration, IT or similar field.
