Reporting to the Head of Corporate Tax, the Manager, Corporate Tax- Private Fund oversees tax matters for the private fund’s limited partnership & subsidiaries. The Manager is responsible for tax operations and tax compliance oversight of the Fund (partnership) and related subsidiary entities. This role manages and oversees projects with internal clients, external service providers, as well as the broader Finance, Legal and Operations teams.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing processes, systems and reporting services to advise investors on the tax implications of their Fund investment and various partnership specific items including section 704(b) and taxable income allocations, capital account maintenance, liability analysis and allocations, section 734(b) and 743(b) adjustment calculations, if/when applicable.
- Coordinates, plans, and oversees the preparation of Federal Form 1065, Sch K-1 & related state tax filings.
- Apply partnership tax knowledge and experience towards understanding potential partnership taxation issues and assist in the preparation of partnership specific computations.
- Oversee interim taxable income projections to assess the timing of distributions.
- Oversees third-party service providers providing tax compliance services.
- Seeks opportunities to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of processes through new technology and innovative thinking.
- Document and organize tax research positions.
- Coordinate and effectively communicate with outside tax counsel, accounting firms, and internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate tax planning, risk controls, and compliance.
- Act as a risk manager through ongoing awareness of the tax regulatory environment and the firm’s adherence to its tax compliance obligations.
- Stay updated on global tax trends, proposed and actual changes in law and regulations to ensure compliance and optimize tax strategies.
- Partner and interface with legal, operations, finance and the broader tax team on all transactions.
- Collaborates with the Fund team to evolve the Corporate Tax Department services to better meet the holistic needs of the business today and into the future.
- Ensures deliverable/results are achieved on time with high quality.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance w/ concentration in Accounting. Graduate degree or MBA/LLM is preferred.
- 5-8 years of experience in a tax specialist role related to partnership taxation.
- CPA is required. Public accounting experience is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to articulate and present a clear point of view on technical matters in clear, concise, and meaningful communications for various levels of the organization.
- Excellent time management and organizational/project management skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Advanced Microsoft/Excel skills with ability to design and maintain complex financial models and to drive high quality presentations.
- Stays current and adapts to changes in the tax, regulatory and technological environment.
- Move easily between big picture thinking and managing day to day work.
- Strong research and analytical skills including the ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative data to draw conclusions and assist on decision making. Exercises independent judgment.
