The Position
As AQR continues to build its product offering and sales team to focus on the Private Wealth Market, the firm will be hiring a Vice President, Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) Sales to focus on the RIA market in the Eastern U.S. This person will work in tandem with the Regional Director to ensure that the full suite of RIA prospects and current clients are covered in an optimal manner from a sales perspective. The Vice President will support and work with the Regional Director on large account coverage, and he/she will also work directly with more mid-market RIAs in the region. This person will also provide consistent support to the broader RIA effort.
In terms of product offering, the Vice President of RIA Sales will represent AQR’s full fund offering to the RIA client base. AQR has a highly compelling range of investment vehicles for this segment, including the firm’s Flex Separately Managed Accounts (Flex SMA), Tax Aware Alternatives, and the firm’s suite of mutual fund offerings. The firm has been highly innovative from a tax innovation perspective, and this set of vehicles is highly advantageous to RIA portfolios from both an investment performance and tax advantage perspective. The applicability of these strategies is also quite broad, with the strategies being both a core part of portfolios and an important diversifier.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities for the role will include but not be limited to:
- Present AQR’s products and services so that they can clearly identify the benefits of the products relative to its competitors
- Provide advisors technical information, including a strong knowledge of the competitive landscape, financial markets and industry related topics
- Work closely and communicate effectively with Sales Management
- Work with Regional Directors to help them grow AQRs tax aware SMAs with a select group of National RIAs
- Work with a subset of RIAs to grow AQRs liquid alternative mutual fund business
- Provide inbound and outbound client support, including helping to service clients, quantify prospects, and sending follow-up information
- Directly drive sales through proactive solicitation via email and phone to supplement external sales activities
- Proactively use databases and sales reports to assist senior relationship managers in managing their territories
- Work closely with Portfolio Management, Portfolio Solutions, Compliance, Legal, Operations, Risk, and Trading teams to address client requests
- Develop robust AQR product and asset class knowledge and demonstrate interest in the industry
- Participate in projects and initiatives to help improve overall team functionality and efficiency
- Periodic travel for in-person meetings and conferences
Professional Experience / Qualifications
Qualifications for this role will include but will not be limited to the following:
- At least 6-8 years of total experience.
- Much of this experience should be in a sales role or function, ideally with exposure to the Private Wealth and RIA market in particular.
- High-quality training and experience in a traditional and/or alternative asset management setting. Some real exposure to alternatives is preferred, either directly in that setting or working with these products.
- Some experience driving a sales process and managing a sales pipeline.
- Demonstrated sales DNA and an organized, process-driven approach, including very strong preparation and follow-up skills.
- Strong core intellect and desire to work with a sophisticated product offering.
- A deep desire to be part of a growth story, and to engage RIAs with a truly differentiated product and value proposition.
- An ability and desire to continually educate an audience about the nature and benefits of this product offering.
- Excellent communication skills and keen ability to develop multiple levels and types of relationships within client organizations.
- Highly collaborative, team-focused, accountable, and self-motivated person.
- Series 7 and 66 required
The salary range for this role is expected to be $175,000 to $200,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is accurate for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, depending upon factors such as skills, experience, location, or other business and organizational needs. This wage range may also be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
