TITLE: Director of Business Development
LOCATION: New York City (hybrid)
SALARY: $150,000 - $175,000 base salary; $230,000 - $260,000 OTE (based on NYC, will be adjusted for geo)
The Role:
The Director of Business Development will lead Canoe’s direct lead generation strategy. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep experience in go-to-market, business development, and lead generation, particularly in the financial services or fintech sectors.
What You’ll Do:
Lead Generation:
- Design and oversee lead generation campaigns, ensuring alignment with business objectives and sales targets.
- Leverage both inbound and outbound marketing channels to increase lead volume and quality.
- Work closely with the marketing team to optimize lead nurturing efforts and enhance conversion rates.
- Analyze and report on lead generation performance, making data-driven decisions to improve ROI.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Partner with product, marketing, and sales teams to ensure alignment on product positioning and messaging for business development professionals.
- Work closely with the sales team to ensure smooth hand-offs of leads and opportunities from business development professionals.
- Engage with the executive team to provide regular updates on business development professionals and lead generation performance.
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead and mentor a growing team of business development professionals.
- Set clear goals, KPIs, and performance metrics to drive accountability and results.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
What We’re Looking For
- 7-10 years of experience in business development and lead generation.
- Proven track record of developing and managing business development programs, ideally within fintech or financial services.
- Strong understanding of lead generation best practices, including digital marketing, CRM tools, and pipeline management.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Data-driven mindset with experience in analyzing performance metrics and adjusting strategies accordingly.
- Leadership experience with a proven ability to manage and grow high-performing teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. MBA is a plus.
Preferred:
- Experience and deep interest in financial technology software and the financial services industry.
- Familiarity with the Institutional Investment, Wealth Management, Allocator, and Administrator space, and the relevant players, technologies and firms within the community.
- Positive attitude, high-energy approach, strong work ethic.
- Excellent communication, project management, and organization skills.
- Desire to work in a fast-growing, client-facing and revenue-generating role, with significant autonomy.
