The CalSTRS Investments Branch is seeking a motivated individual to work as an Investment Officer III on the Investment Performance Team.
CalSTRS Investment Performance unit ensures data accuracy through a robust examination, resulting in comprehensive performance reporting and analytics. We provide oversight of performance data and cost measurement for Total Fund reporting, attribution analysis, composite construction, investment disclosures and Board presentations for CalSTRS global portfolio.
Under the general direction of the Associate Portfolio Manager for Investment Performance and Reporting, the incumbent is responsible for providing investment performance reporting and analysis; financial expertise to staff and management; recommending and assessing various risk management of investment policies and program strategies; management of performance oversight, and is responsible for performing the following complex duties requiring the highest degree of independence, confidentiality, creativity and discretionary judgment.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
- Experience reporting or interpreting investment performance data
- Experience or knowledge performing investment performance attribution analysis
- Experience researching industry best practices
- Experience consulting with managers to resolve performance discrepancies
- Expertise and coordination in implementing Investment Policies with respect to performance and reporting
- Knowledge of a variety of automated tools and systems
- Ability to evaluate data and situations, and make sound judgments and conclusions
- Ability to research, analyze, and interpret complex technical information
- Ability to appear before various committees and Boards
- Ability to recommend advisability of future commitments
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
An incumbent who possesses a professional certification as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) may receive a 5% monthly base pay differential.
Every 12 months, based on performance evaluation, employees may receive a 5% salary increase until they reach the maximum salary for the position.
