The Creative Project Manager executes internal requests from marketers and business partners, ensuring on-target, on-time, on-budget delivery of creative marketing solutions. An associate in this role exhibits:
- Outstanding project management and communication skills in achieving the highest possible standards in service.
- Basic knowledge of Securian business areas and challenges to provide solutions and project management execution.
- The ability to facilitate productive meetings, ensuring final output is on mark, as well as provide project management follow-through and timely delivery.
Coordinates Internal Marketing Agency projects/campaigns from creative discovery to execution, and provides time estimates. Provides project management and ensures alignment with overall enterprise marketing objectives.
- Develops, manages and leads high volume small to medium, inter-departmental marketing projects from creative kickoff to execution.
- Owns medium to large projects with guidance from their supervisor or senior team member.
- Partners with project sponsor and marketing teams (Solutions Marketing, Internal Marketing Agency, Brand, etc.) to build project plans, prioritize projects and coordinate resources within marketing operations system of record (Workfront).
- Identifies, initiates and monitors project deliverables using repeatable processes, including milestones, roles/responsibilities, timelines and required tasks. Balances considerations of scope, quality, time and cost.
- Drives projects to completion, prepares summaries and completes project closure activities.
- Reviews project results and metrics, identifying future improvement opportunities.
Provides creative execution oversight and consistency.
- Determines creative, marketing and/or operational requirements for repeatable projects and processes when required.
- Assembles the project team (e.g., design, copywriting, digital) to lead creative execution.
- Collaborates on creative execution with project sponsor and creative teams, providing feedback during internal creative reviews.
- Presents drafts and updates to project sponsor, obtains feedback and confirms the project team addresses the feedback appropriately.
- Reviews project change requests and responds with schedule/cost impacts along with alternatives. Notifies Senior Creative Project Manager or Marketing Operations Manager when appropriate.
- Appropriately escalates project issues and risks to the relevant team member(s) or leader(s) as needed.
- Leverages marketing knowledge and understanding of creative services to facilitate effective communication between teams.
Plays a relationship management role while helping maximize team effectiveness and efficiency.
- Develops and maintains solid working relationships while encouraging collaboration across teams.
- Demonstrates diplomacy, manages expectations and maintains a strong focus on the project sponsor, representing their needs and concerns when appropriate.
- Manages expectations with project sponsor and inter-departmental teams, leading checkpoint meetings to review issues, business requirements and action items.
- Establishes and provides periodic status reports to relevant team members, vendors, stakeholders and leaders on project progress. This may include project risks and issues, forecasts vs. budget, and future tasks.
- Identifies and implements process improvements as appropriate.
- Manages relevant marketing operations processes and provides support for other members of the Marketing Operations Team for larger, cross-department projects.
Performs related activities as directed; manages personal self-development to prepare for new responsibilities and challenges in a changing environment.
- Identifies and participates in training or other opportunities to learn about and share applicable best practices and tools.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of three years of professional-level experience in a project management role on a marketing team or in an external or internal creative agency.
- Project management experience for a variety of marketing asset types (print, video, email, web, etc.).
- Skills to manage small-to-medium marketing projects to successful outcomes within tight deadlines. (May lead aspects of larger projects with supervision by Senior Project Manager or Marketing Operations Manager.)
- Self-motivated and independent with solid analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to identify and assess potential solutions to business requirements and prepare cost-benefit analyses.
- Communication skills to effectively interact with leaders and associates across all areas of the organization. Written communication skills to clearly and concisely document business requirements, test plans and communicate results.
- Ability to adapt to changing project priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, where speed-to-market is often critical.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience using Workfront (marketing operations system) in a project management capacity. Financial services industry knowledge and broad understanding of Securian products, markets and operations.

The estimated base pay range for this job is:
$56,000.00 - $103,000.00
Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. More information on base pay and incentive pay (if applicable) can be discussed with a with a member of the Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team.
