POSITION: Associate / Senior Associate, Portfolio Strategy & Analytics (Private Equity)
Northleaf Capital Partners is offering the opportunity to join a leading and growing private markets manager. Reporting to the Managing Director, Portfolio Strategy & Analytics (PS&A), you will be a key member of the PS&A team at Northleaf. The mandate of the PS&A team is to improve outcomes for our investors by conducting analytics and research that supports the portfolio construction and risk management of Northleaf’s private markets funds. As an extension of this, the team is also involved in new product development activities.

The successful candidate will gain direct insight into the workings of a global private markets investment firm with a specific focus on Northleaf’s private equity investment strategy. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic professional to thrive in a demanding but collaborative environment and to build a unique understanding of all aspects of Northleaf’s private equity business.
The successful candidate will possess 3-5 years of relevant industry experience, ideally in a financial or professional services firm, demonstrating strong financial analysis skills. This role will be responsible for a range of activities including:
- Developing, maintaining and/or reviewing complex private capital fund models
- Analyzing Northleaf’s private equity investment portfolio and performance to develop insights that inform the portfolio strategy of future investment funds
- Performing quarterly portfolio reviews, including forward looking projections and assessments of primary, secondary and direct co-investments
- Maintaining ownership, with support, of day-to-day portfolio construction and fund capital management activities for one or more mandates and/or deal allocations; understanding the general principles and various nuances in different situations and developing thoughtful insights supported by analysis
- Working closely with external advisors and team members across Northleaf, including deal team, Investor Operations, Sales, Legal and Tax team, to respond to inquiries and obtain required information to deliver on portfolio and investor analysis/reporting
Qualifications
- Excellent academic credentials, a university degree is preferred; CFA or similar qualification an asset
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate and present points of view and ideas effectively
- Comfort with Microsoft Office applications and, ideally, other applications such as PowerBI and Bloomberg
- Manipulates data with fluency and accuracy; comfortable working with large datasets; able to identify and resolve issues related to data quality; develops checks and processes to mitigate issues
- Self-motivated and self-directed, with a high degree of intellectual curiosity
- Strong work ethic with a high level of professional integrity and ability to engender trust
- Proven ability to successfully multi-task and prioritize, with strong attention to detail
- Strong addition to Northleaf’s values of respect, integrity, collaboration, and professionalism
