Your Future Team
The Controller is a key leadership role within the Finance function that is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of Hightower. This role is charged with instilling seamless general accounting operations, while working close with counterparts and leadership to provide finance operational context to business decisions. The individual needs to be able to flex effortlessly between detailed work with their team members and a holistic, strategic lens on opportunities within the business.
What You’ll Do
- Responsible for creation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements in compliance with relevant accounting principles and regulations (GAAP).
- Oversight of monthly field P&L release, providing critical financial information to 140+ advisor teams timely and accurately
- Execution of consolidation accounting, working closely with the management accounting team to explain fluctuations and operational impacts of GAAP compliance.
- Assess procedures and internal financial controls within the general accounting function to ensure proper documentation, cross-training, and approval are in place.
- Oversee Payroll Processing and Accounting team, implementing effective processes to pay, track, and understand overall human capital spend
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, providing guidance, mentoring, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth
- Oversee the effective utilization and enhancement of financial systems, including ERP, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and integration with other organizational systems.
- Identify financial and operational risks, while working to develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Communicating and collaborating with other departments to ensure effective/efficient operations.
- Active participation in any private equity sponsor transaction of company
- Identifying areas of inefficiency and proposing strategies to tackle them
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA designation required.
- 15+ years of experience in finance and accounting roles, with a demonstrated progression of responsibility, including experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
- In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards (GAAP) and experience with financial audits.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial software applications.
- An over-arching drive to influence organizational change and get into operational details with your team members.
