POSITION SUMMARY:
The Associate, Benefits & Leave Management will have a primary focus on Leave Management, which is instrumental in designing, implementing, and overseeing the organization's leave policies to ensure they support employee well-being, engagement, and productivity. This role encompasses the comprehensive management of leave of absence, disability, workplace accommodation, and worker's compensation programs, ensuring legal compliance and best practice application. Additionally, the Associate will strategically align benefits programs to enhance employee engagement, using educational content and rewards to foster a positive work environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the development and management of the company's leave of absence, disability, workplace accommodation, and worker's compensation programs, prioritizing legal compliance and employee support.
- Analyze and enhance leave policies and practices to ensure they meet the needs of employees while aligning with organizational goals and legal requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees during their leave, offering guidance, support, and resources to ensure a smooth transition before, during, and after leave.
- Collaborate with external partners to access educational content and rewards programs, integrating these resources to support employee engagement and well-being, particularly in the context of return-to-work programs.
- Work closely with HR Information Systems (HRIS) and Human Resources Business Partners (HRBP) to monitor and analyze leave utilization, identifying trends and areas for improvement to enhance employee satisfaction and productivity.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state leave laws, ensuring the organization's policies and procedures are compliant and reflect best practices.
- Develop and implement wellness and engagement initiatives that complement leave management, such as health and wellness events, to promote a holistic approach to employee well-being.
- Advise and train HR staff and management on leave policies and practices, ensuring consistent application across the organization.
- Oversee collection of summary plan descriptions, benefit summaries, certificates of insurance, and other plan documents.
- Maintain benefits webpages on the Marina (intranet) by updating plan documents, benefits guides, flyers, other online benefits information, and corporate discounts.
- Assist the department with strategic initiatives and communications where needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in leave management, with a demonstrated ability to improve employee engagement and well-being through effective leave policies and practices required.
- Experience in benefits administration and working with vendor partnerships to enhance employee support programs is highly valued.
- Expert knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and other relevant laws affecting leave and accommodations, with a strong focus on application to enhance employee engagement and support.
- Proficient in managing complex leave cases and navigating external platform relationships to support benefits and engagement strategies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess leave program effectiveness and employee engagement levels.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, essential for supporting employees through their leave and fostering a positive workplace culture.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems, for effective management and reporting of leave data and engagement metrics.
SKILLS:
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is essential.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Professional certification in HR (such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) preferred.
- Additional certifications or training in leave management and employment law preferred.
LOCATION:
- This role will be based in Bayview’s Coral Gables or Fort Lauderdale, FL, office.
- This role will be hybrid, three days in-office and two days remote.
