Purpose and Job Summary:
ORIX USA's Structuring Group, a structured credit and equity investment platform, is seeking to hire a Senior Associate for their New York office. The Senior Associate will take a central role in structuring, pricing, negotiation, and financing of transactions, with a focus on transaction modelling, pricing accounting, legal and rating agency aspects.
The Senior Associate will work with deal teams in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment, have interaction with the senior members of the firm and its portfolio companies, as well as, with investment banks, legal and accounting firms, rating agencies and potential investment targets.
The position presents an exciting opportunity to work in a fast paced, transactional, and multi-disciplinary environment working on all aspects of transaction execution.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Evaluate potential investment opportunities within targeted industries, with a particular focus on structured credit transactions
- Perform detailed cash-flow modelling, including for accounting, rating agency, tax and securitization purposes
- Participate in the legal due diligence of transaction documentation
- Prepare internal investment approval memos and presentations
- Interface with internal/external tax, accounting, legal, risk and support teams
- Independently/proactively present ideas, transaction opportunities and structuring recommendations
- Other projects and duties as assigned
Contacts
This position has frequent contact with all levels of employees and management. In addition, this role may interact with outside business partners, vendors, consultants, and other office visitors.
Education, Skills & Experience
Required
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university in STEM subject or finance, economics, or related field
- Minimum 3+ years of investment banking, private equity, or investment management experience
- Experience with insurance company investment strategies a plus
- Strong accounting/financial modeling and analytical skills supported by a high proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent organizational, communication, writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn quickly and demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a high-performance team
- Ability/willingness to travel when required
Preferred
- GAAP financial reporting experience/understanding
- Rating agency methodology and securitization techniques
- Knowledge of operating BBG terminal and INTEX
- Experience in reviewing complex legal documentation
Annual base salary gross: $150,000 - $180,000 (NY only). The base salary range represents the estimated low and high end of the ORIX USA's salary for this position. Actual base salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base pay is one component of ORIX USA’s total compensation package for employees.
