Purpose and Job Summary:
ORIX’s Portfolio Management team is seeking to hire a Senior Associate for its New York office. The Portfolio Management team reports to the Head of Integrated Risk and Portfolio Management and is responsible for the ongoing portfolio management and monitoring of ORIX’s investments across its Private Credit, Private Equity, and Real Estate businesses. It’s key function is to identify credit migration and risk mitigation strategies in coordination with the business and the Risk Management team.
The Senior Associate’s overall objective will be to support members of the Portfolio Management team in analyzing ORIX’s portfolio exposure across its diverse lines of business.
The Senior Associate will recommend, appropriate investment risk ratings through the ongoing review and analysis of financial statements, the completion of periodic reviews of such statements, liquidity and valuation analysis, covenant review and testing, monitoring of news articles and other early warning alerts, quarterly investment reporting, and the preparation of Watch-List report.
In this role, the Senior Associate will work closely with the Originations and Underwriting teams to actively manage the dialogue with the underlying portfolio companies and assist in the understanding of financial performance.
In parallel, the Senior Associate will also collaborate with other members of the Portfolio Management team and other stakeholders on various strategic initiatives related to portfolio management, including enhancements to data quality, management and reporting, process improvements, credit research papers, and the development of policies and procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitoring of portfolio investments – analyze financials, business, and industry trends, spread and track financial performance against lender’s case, management plan, and financial covenants, prepare discussion materials for internal reviews, and present to senior management.
- Financial and credit analysis – prepare financial models and sensitivity analyses, understand valuation analyses, recommend changes to risk ratings, credit reserves, and impairments, evaluate amendment and/or collateral modification requests.
- Monitor portfolio KPIs and escalate underperformers to Senior Portfolio Management staff, communicate and co-ordinate risk mitigation strategies as risk(s) evolve.
- Prepare portfolio management presentations alongside senior Portfolio Management colleagues for OCU management that include analytics on expected portfolio performance and areas of potential risk and/or opportunity.
- Establish and leverage cross-functional partnerships and network with key internal and external constituencies.
- Assist the Head of Portfolio Management on various projects, which may focus on, but are not limited to, data quality, monitoring process, or governance; and
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
This position has frequent contact with all levels of employees and management. In addition, this role may interact with outside business partners, vendors, consultants, and other office visitors.
Education, Skills, and Experience:
- 1- 3 years of underwriting, portfolio management and/or credit review experience at an investment bank, large commercial bank, middle-market direct lender, or real estate investment company.
- Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related subject; completion or progress towards an MBA or CFA preferred.
- Completion of a formal credit training program is a plus.
- Experience in structured credit, real estate, work-out or distressed debt situations is a plus.
- Strong understanding of credit, including a basic understanding of legal documentation.
- Strong accounting, valuation, and financial modeling skills.
- Superior analytical, organizational, and written and verbal skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks at the same time.

Annual base salary gross: $130,000 - $150,000 (NY only). The base salary range represents the estimated low and high end of the ORIX USA’s salary for this position. Actual base salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base pay is one component of ORIX USA's total compensation package for employees.
