Job Description
Ellington is seeking a highly motivated Financial Reporting Analyst to join our team in Old Greenwich, Connecticut. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting two of Ellington’s publicly traded entities, a credit-focused residential mortgage REIT (NYSE: EFC) and a CLO closed-end fund (NYSE: EARN). The Financial Reporting Analyst will provide support to our accounting/reporting teams through quantitative analysis, data manipulation, and cross-departmental collaboration. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain comprehensive exposure to the data workflows within a leading investment management firm, supporting two publicly traded entities.
Responsibilities will include:
- Perform data extraction, transformation, and analysis using SQL and Excel to support public fund accounting/reporting initiatives, including providing data deliverables to external accounting and tax advisors.
- Oversee workflow and process improvement/automation. Validate certain accounting calculations, including loan amortization.
- Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
- Collaborate with various departments to gather information and understand data flows within the organization.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy by implementing and monitoring data quality controls.
- Assist in the automation of data collection and reporting processes to improve efficiency.
- Support the public fund accounting/reporting team in monitoring and reporting regulatory requirements.
- Data integrity monitoring and remediation.
- Design and assist in programming both permanent and ad hoc reports and processes for financial and compliance reporting.
Desirable background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related fields.
- Proficiency in SQL and Excel for data manipulation and analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Experience in a financial services or investment management environment is preferred.
- Ability to design and enact projects with minimal oversight.
- Experience with accounting or financial data a PLUS
