This position will operate in a hybrid work environment, 3 days per week in the office (Philadelphia, PA).
OVERVIEW:
Glenmede is seeking an Institutional Operations Officer to join our team. The person in this role will report to Glenmede’s Director of Institutional Operations. This role is pivotal in advancing institutional client performance and analytical reporting as well as delivering broad support to our clients and internal teams. The position will be responsible for helping to oversee operational processes and reporting in service of Glenmede’s Endowments & Foundations and Private Wealth teams. Glenmede’s client portfolios include investments in public equity funds, private growth equity and buyout funds, venture capital funds, hedge funds, real assets, fixed income and direct co-investments. The role offers the opportunity to work directly with scaled institutional endowment portfolios as well as serve a broader roster of clients in advance of their diverse missions and goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Platform Development.Further develop Glenmede’s operational platform and ability to offer best-in-class reporting to OCIO clients. Work collaboratively to identify and implement improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of internal processes and reporting, including the potential implementation of new software solutions relevant to institutional clients.
- Transaction Support. Provide operational support for the firm’s largest clients by capturing and reconciling investment activity across all internal systems.
- Monthly Close. Coordinate the accurate closing of client records, coordinating the monthly custodial close process and creation of monthly performance reports for clients.
- Portfolio Modeling. Maintain pro-forma portfolio and cash flow models for client and fund of funds portfolios.
- Liquidity Management. Review and interpret underlying manager fund offering documents and maintain liquidity models for client and fund of funds portfolios.
- Exposure Capture. Support the investment team in capturing and reporting on underlying manager exposure and aggregate client exposure data.
- Research Platform Maintenance. Work to ensure documentation from underlying investment managers is captured and available to internal stakeholders on a timely basis and maintain operational components of the firm’s research management platform.
- Relationship Management Support. Assist with preparation of exhibits for client investment committee meetings and collaborate with client service teams to address client inquiries as well as facilitate responses to external audit inquiries.
- Onboarding. Serve as a member of the transition team responsible for the successful onboarding of new institutional client relationships.
- Data Collection. Coordinate with investment managers, fund administrators, and third-party service providers to collect investment transparency reporting including coordination of questionnaires to collect operational, compliance, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI); and Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) information.
- Valuation Support. Work with the firm’s internal valuation working group to help coordinate data gathering related to investments integral to the timely completion of client and fund of funds audits.
- Management Reporting. Assist with coordination and creation of management reports for distribution within the E&F and Glenmede management teams.
- Firm Building. Engage in department-specific and firm-wide initiatives to complete corporate initiatives, projects, and business analysis supporting Glenmede’s strategic goals. Ability and willingness to contribute to the advancement of team, office and business capabilities. Perform other duties as required by position.
REQUIRED QUALIFICIATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in investment operations, performance measurement, fund accounting, or a related role in an endowment, foundation, pension, OCIO, bank or other asset management firm.
- Proficiency with performance measurement tools and software, as well as advanced Excel skills. Knowledge of various investment instruments including private equity, hedge funds, stocks, bonds, and derivatives plus general knowledge of investment accounting and performance practices.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certifications: CPA, CFA, CIPM or other relevant professional certifications.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate meaningful insights. Experience in performance reporting and attribution for multi-asset class portfolios including private equity, hedge funds, and other partnerships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely to all stakeholders. Represent Glenmede with a high degree of professionalism, respect, and discretion in dealings with clients, external investment managers and vendors.
- High level of precision and attention to detail in all work products and a fundamental commitment to ensuring client reporting is accurate.
