Job Description
You will ultimately serve as an equity specialist, conducting research, with the goal of identifying best in breed investment options for our clients. You will work closely with senior members of the team, assisting with manager coverage and contributing to research reports. Over time you will be assigned coverage of specific managers, and you will be tasked with understanding your assigned coverage thoroughly, as well as providing valuable insights to internal and external clients. Additionally, you will be asked to contribute to other team and business goals.
What you’ll do:
- Conduct research on equity strategies. Assist in ongoing qualitative and quantitative analysis of managers/strategies
- Source new ideas, meet with portfolio managers, strategists, and other investment professionals, document meetings, assist in writing research opinions and evaluations, and deliver analysis to consultants, portfolio managers, and clients
- Assist in the production of all research collateral and deliverables, including, but not limited to, meeting notes, evaluations, and ad hoc analysis
- Represent the firm to the external investment community in a professional manner during conference calls, in-person meetings, and on-site visits
- Interact with Wilshire colleagues firm-wide in servicing clients’ needs
- Support Wilshire’s reporting and monitoring process
- Participate in and contribute to Wilshire’s Investment Strategy Committee meetings
- Assist with ad hoc manager research related projects
- Collaborate with other members of the investment team and contribute to investment recommendations and decisions made in client portfolios
- Contribute to a collaborative, one-team environment
Qualifications
What you have:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. A writing sample may be requested.
- Deep quantitative and analytical ability desired
- 1 year of investment manager research, institutional or HNW consulting experience is preferred
- 2+ years of overall investment industry experience is preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in business and finance related majors is preferred
- Progress towards CFA Charter or CAIA designation preferred
- Advanced degree (MBA, MA/MS) in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or Economics preferred
- Client presentation experience preferred
- Team player and client centric
- Submitting a cover letter and writing sample is encouraged
- Familiarity with Morningstar Direct, Microsoft Office applications, and eVestment Alliance preferred

- This position will work on a hybrid model out of our Santa Monica, Chicago, or Denver office

The pay range for this position is $77,000-$90,000. However, base pay will be determined on an individual basis considering various factors, including location, qualifications, skills, and experience. The total compensation package includes eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus and a full range of health and financial benefit offerings, which will be provided in conjunction with an offer of employment.
