Summary: Calamos is looking for a very talented and highly motivated individual to join our team and help shape its future. We are seeking a Data Operations Manager with a passion for both data and the financial services industry. This person will be part of our world class Data Engineering team, responsible for the operational integrity of our data pipelines. This individual will also lead communication with key stakeholders for issue resolution, bring best practice techniques most notably with DevOps, and be interested in turning our data and data platform into a competitive advantage.This person, reporting to the Director of Data Engineering and Analytics (DEA), will lead the Data Success Team which is responsible for supporting the management, curation, and growth of the firm’s mission-critical data.This leader will work hands on with Data Engineering, Investment Systems, Research Systems, Distribution, Marketing, Fund Admin, Operations, Data Science, Risk, and Quantitative teams to continue to build out a world class data platform that meets their needs and maintains the highest standards of quality.
Primary Responsibilities:- Utilize ITSM best practices to deliver service to our customers.
- Monitor data pipeline performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Quickly troubleshoot data issues when they arise.
- Mentor junior team members in adopting best practices for data operations.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Possess enthusiasm for technology outside of work-related activities.
- Participate as a hands-on leader within the team providing technical and professional leadership to the team members.
- Work closely with the scrum team and scrum master to help shape the team’s focus and deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science or other related field.
- At least 8 years of experience developing data management processes in a financial services environment. This includes database design, data warehousing, and ETL.
- At least 8 years of full life cycle software development experience.
- At least 4 years of experience in software development projects using Python, and MS SQL or a similar database platform
- Strong understanding of data management principles and best practices.
- Experience with cloud data platforms.
- Experience working with a service desk application such as Jira Service Management.
- Able to debug other programming languages effectively
- Working knowledge of query optimization
- Must have excellent technical and analytical skills.
- Must have strong communication skills.
- Must have a passion for new technologies and frameworks including Cloud and Agile Scrum.
- Experience interfacing with business partners.
- Track record of demonstrating leadership potential.
- Experience in .NET development is a plus.
- Experience with Data Lakes, Spark, or Databricks technologies is a significant plus.
