The Director of Total Fund Data & Systems holds primary responsibility for governance, quality control, and consolidation of the investment-related and analytical data sets being produced, persisted, and consumed by investment personnel at the SBA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in administering and integrating investment software/systems, as well as extensive experience with considerations in both database design and ETL and/or process automation. While at its core, the Director’s position is a leadership role primarily concerned
with governance, architecture, planning, oversight, and interdisciplinary collaboration, the Director can still expect to wield their technical expertise as an individual contributor from time to time.

Requirements:
Eight years of related experience. A postsecondary degree may be used as an alternative for years of direct experience; 2 years for an associate’s degree, 4 years for a bachelor’s degree, 6 years for a master’s degree, 7 years for a professional degree, or 9 years for a doctoral degree.
Preferences:
• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, data science, operations management, finance, business, engineering, actuarial science, economics, mathematics, financial mathematics or a related field
• An advanced degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, data science, operations management, finance, business, engineering, actuarial science, economics, mathematics, financial mathematics or a related field
• Experience in architecting and maintaining data models, data warehousing, and integration of complex data sets (experience with PaaS solutions like Snowflake, Databricks, et. al. a plus)
• Experience writing technical requirements and guiding Information Technology staff in integrating systems (particularly investment systems)
• Experience in managing projects, especially those related to data governance and systems integration (relevant certifications in project management and/or data management also a plus)
• Experience collaborating with investment professionals to scale, harden or improve their investment processes through the use of data, systems, and automation
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Extensive experience interacting with and/or administering relational database management systems (RDBMS) and commensurate proficiency with Structured Query Language (SQL)
• Knowledge of the general shape, characteristics and nuances of working with investment-related and accounting-related data sets
• Ability to participate in the development and/or prototyping of automation by programming solutions in, for example, Python or R
• Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment, inclusive of the ability to identify and make judgment calls on anomalies in data
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously
• Practical knowledge of the characteristics of equity, fixed income, real estate, and private market investments is a plus
• Familiarity with topics and concepts in investment management, accounting and financial economics is a plus
