About the job:
FS Investments/Portfolio Advisors is currently seeking candidates with strong quantitative, qualitative and interpersonal skills for an Associate position on the Firm’s North American Primary Due Diligence Team. As an integral member of the team, this individual will be expected to apply these skills towards assisting the construction and oversight of the Firm’s comingled multi-manager vehicle as well as client portfolios and actively participate in manager meetings, due diligence, and performance monitoring. The position offers a rigorous learning experience and in‐depth exposure to the institutional investment management industry, including the various areas within private equity – Buyout, Venture Capital / Growth Equity and Special Situations. The individual will be involved in every aspect of the private equity fund investment activities and will work directly with the senior members of the team.
The Associate will have a range of responsibilities, including:
- Proactively research and source private equity fund opportunities through industry databases and the firm’s internal CRM system
- Evaluate all inbound and outbound fund opportunities and support the due diligence team in the collection, organization, and tracking of data, materials, and other information used in the investment evaluation and due diligence process
- Monitor portfolio company performance
- Draft and present materials and recommendations to the Firm’s Investment Committee
Qualifications:
- ~2 years relevant finance experience, ideally with private equity experience
- Ability to perform manager research and peer group analysis, underwriting, and due diligence of investment managers, as well as the ability to formulate due diligence plans, including onsite agendas and quantitative data requests
- Strong analytical and financial analysis skills (including basic financial modeling)
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Effective time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent academic credentials, including a BA/BS in Business, Finance, Economics or Accounting
