Overview
This is a new role within the global technology and operations support team. The primary responsibility will be to provide expert-level technical and functional support for users of the Charles River (CR) IMS (CRD) platform in the US region – the user estate includes Portfolio/Fund Managers, Traders, Compliance, and operations staff. This person will also provide localized support for the wider investment/trading systems estate, helping maintain stability, performance, availability of all applications and key workflows. This role will involve becoming an SME for asset management-specific investment workflows, focusing on CR IMS, and collaborating with various technical and operational teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues. The CR IMS Support Analyst will also help manage any platform defect backlog with our vendor CRD (Charles River Development/State Street), advocating for improvements and driving progress in delivery. They will lead incident triage, contribute to wider service improvement initiatives, and help ensure that disruptions to the investments business are minimized.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents relating to the CR IMS platform, collaborating closely with end-users, Charles River Development (CRD) and internal technology teams and ancillary vendor-partners including Asia start of day batch and processes.
- Work closely with CRD/SST Alpha support team and the L&G investment initiatives team to ensure efficient response times for user issues.
- Collaborate with team members and outsourced provider to ensure daily tasks are completed in line with agreed service standards and deadlines (including. accuracy, timeliness, and client service measures).
- Monitor system performance, data integrity, data quality and compliance standards within the Charles River system, proactively identifying and addressing anomalies or issues.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including IT, operations, and compliance, to ensure seamless integration of the Charles River system with other enterprise systems and data sources.
- Addressing thematic issues and defects by monitoring recurring issues and proactively managing a backlog of tickets (Salesforce, JIRA) in collaboration with CRD.
- Support collaboration with stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Work with Charles River data (CRD) in the configuration and maintenance of the CRIMS system to support investment management workflows, including portfolio management, trade order management, compliance, and risk management.
- Conduct workflow testing of workflows in CR IMS lower environments – i.e., to replicate issues or regression test new proposed changes.
- Provide training and user support to end-users, assisting them in effectively utilizing the features and functionalities of the Charles River system.
- Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in the Charles River platform, make recommendations for, and implement, enhancements to optimize system performance and functionality.
- Conduct regular assessments of the system's effectiveness and propose improvements to streamline processes and enhance user experience.
- Supporting the coordination and undertaking of testing CRIMS for patches, upgrades, and disaster recovery
- Coordinating the backlog of change work, removing blockers, and contributing ideas to the backlog of improvements from a technical perspective.
- Conduct annual materiality assessments for CRD and ensure either ad-hoc or scheduled supplier questionnaires are completed promptly and accurately.
- Manage regular service reviews with CRD and other platform/system vendors as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or demonstrable equivalent experience at this level.
- Ideally fundamental level investment certifications and courses or working towards achieving such – e.g. CFA L1
- ITIL Foundation level, V4 (desirable).
- Prior Completion of CRD bootcamp courses or Charles River University – version 17R1 onward.
- In-depth understanding of investment management workflows and processes, including portfolio management, trade order management/execution management, electronic trading, compliance, operations and risk management.
- Ideally Strong technical skills in supporting and maintaining the Charles River system (CR IMS) or other relevant front office systems, including system analysis, data management, and troubleshooting
- Strong knowledge of CR IMS Manager Workbench, Trading Blotter/Order Management, Post-Trade workflow, securities, broker and account configuration and investment compliance mechanisms.
- Knowledge of T-SQL (transact SQL) and an ability to query SQL debases at an intermediate level of expertise – joins, aggregate functions Broad knowledge of cloud (AWS, Azure), desktop, server and virtualization technology.
- Understanding of network topology and an ability to provide basic troubleshooting of connectivity problems from the investment desktop environment.
- Knowledge of Service Now (SNOW) and ITIL service management workflows. (Incidents, Problems, Changes, Approvals)
- Basic knowledge of desktop applications and productivity tools.
- Proven experience as a Support Analyst, Business Analyst, or similar role, with a focus on configuring and supporting the Charles River Investment Management Solution (CR IMS) or other relevant front office systems.
- Detailed experience with investment management concepts such as portfolio construction, modelling, asset allocation, execution management.
- Familiarity with financial instruments, and market data sources.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Experience in managing complex stakeholder relationships.
- Extensive experience in providing support for the CR IMS platform to front and middle/back-office users. Versions 17.x onward, focused on Manager Workbench, Trading, Post-trade interfaces and some exposure to pre- and post-trade compliance is preferred.
- Prior experience providing technical and functional support to investment and trading floors on the buy-side.
- Experience of supporting workflows through vendor trading platforms across equity, fixed income, and FX – Familiarity with Portware/Flextrade, Bloomberg EMSX/TSOX, FXAll/FXConnect or similar.
- Good knowledge of Excel Macro enabled spreadsheets with interfaces to market data sources (e.g. Bloomberg API)
- Cross cultural sensitivity and flexibility.
- Emotional intelligence in decision making scenarios.
- Ability to interact with senior security stakeholders and report on program effectiveness.
- Demonstrable experience mobilizing resources – e.g. during incidents or small project execution.
Salary Range
$140,000 0 $150,000
The starting salary offer will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to the applicant’s education, job-related experience, skills, and abilities, geographic location, and market factors. This position is also eligible to participate in the company’s annual discretionary bonus plan.
