OVERVIEW:
The D. E. Shaw group seeks an experienced, thoughtful, and resourceful specialist to join its People Operations team. Members of People Operations play an integral part in managing and continually enhancing the employee experience at the firm. This role offers the chance to join a global team of human capital professionals in a collaborative and dynamic working environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
You’ll collaborate on a variety of complex, cross-functional projects and processes, where you’ll:
- Drive initiatives to optimize workflows (e.g., automate repetitive tasks or develop automated dashboards).
- Leverage the latest technologies to solve operational challenges (e.g., develop AI tooling).
- Perform tasks related to the employee life cycle and experience (e.g., compensation analysis and reporting, onboarding optimization, and data audits).
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- A bachelor’s degree is required and at least seven years of experience in, or exposure to, a high-performing human capital function is preferred.
- Proven leadership and people management skills, including coaching, mentoring, and developing team members.
- Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple complex, cross-functional initiatives simultaneously; adapt to changing priorities; consistently meet deadlines; and suggest process improvements.
- A familiarity with and interest in generative AI is required. Expertise in automating work processes, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and experience with basic programming languages (e.g., Python) are preferred.
- Well-developed verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are also important.
- The expected annual base salary for this position is $140,000 to $190,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
