The Director of Strategy will serve as a key architect of enterprise growth, shaping the long-term strategic direction of MissionSquare and driving transformative initiatives across the organization. This role will partner closely with the executive team and department leaders to design and execute the 5-year growth roadmap, ensuring alignment between MissionSquare capabilities, industry trends, client needs, and organizational growth priorities. Reporting to the Vice President of Strategy, the Senior Director will lead high-impact strategic projects, oversee cross-functional collaboration, and influence decisions at the highest levels. Success in this role requires structured strategic thinking, strong interpersonal skills to lead teams through culture shifts, and the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies that deliver measurable outcomes.
Essential Functions For This Role Include
- Lead the creation and refinement of MissionSquare’s enterprise strategy, including growth priorities, market positioning, and innovation roadmap
- Oversee annual and multi-year strategic growth planning cycles, ensuring alignment across all business units with a focus on collaborating with Investments and Product teams
- Drive and support top strategic initiatives including new product launches, market entry strategies, M&A evaluations, and digital transformation efforts
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief Strategy Officer, Chief Investment Officer, Chief Product Officer, and broader Leadership Team including shaping recommendations to the Board in clear, concise storytelling and communications
- Structure and lead complex transformations across departments reshaping strategy design, governance, and culture shifts
- Build a robust research and insights capability to monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor strategies
- Collaborate closely with the Chief Financial Officer and finance team to develop business cases, financial models, and ROI analyses for strategic investments and partnerships
- Cultivate a high-performance culture to foster analytical rigor, innovation, and collaboration across the entire organization
- Performs other duties as assigned
If you have the following skills, we encourage you to apply:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or related field; MBA preferred
- 7–10 years of experience in strategy consulting or corporate strategy (financial services/retirement industry exposure strongly preferred)
- Proven ability to lead cross‑functional projects/workstreams from insight generation through implementation (in partnership with SPO/operations)
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint; strong financial modeling and valuation capabilities; familiarity with data visualization/analytics platforms is a plus
- Structured problem solving and strong organization skills; able to initiate work independently and drive it to completion
- Distinctive communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to tailor messaging for senior audiences; executive‑ready storytelling
- Experience with change management, stakeholder alignment, and working effectively in a matrixed environment
