POSITION: Vice President, Investor Operations, Infrastructure
Northleaf is currently recruiting an experienced professional to join our growing infrastructure operations team. This posting is for an existing vacancy. The position will be based in the Toronto office and will report to the Director, Investor Operations. The Vice President will work closely with the investment, investor relations, legal and tax team members to manage the investor operations function. The Vice President will be involved in and oversee fund and investment operations including fund reporting, capital management, investment settlement, transaction processing and portfolio and performance reporting, while developing and delivering clear and concise financial reporting to investors.
The successful candidate will support the ongoing strategic development and growth of the infrastructure platform.
Responsibilities will include:
- Oversight of the accounting, finance and operations of the infrastructure funds and related entities, including quarterly investor reporting, performance reporting, valuations, compliance and managing service providers across different jurisdictions;
- Oversee completion of investment fundings, including coordination with the cash and liquidity team to transfer funds, preparation of funding documents and completion of associated journal entry packages;
- Preparation and review of legal entity financial statements, including detailed recordkeeping to reflect flow of funds through SPV structures for investment fundings, distributions, expense payments and shareholder loan activity;
- Process investment distributions for a portfolio of investments, including preparation and review of journal entry packages and legal direction letters;
- Manage liquidity, determine funding strategy, facilitate closing of new investments and investor capital calls and distributions;
- Model, monitor and execution of fund currency hedging program(s);
- Lead the external audit(s) of the infrastructure funds and related entities across different jurisdictions;
- Prepare ad hoc analysis (investment returns, fund returns, cash flow forecasts, FX hedging, etc) to respond to investor queries, due diligence requests and supporting management in decision making;
- Work closely with systems team and other business operations groups to maintain performance tracking systems and implement efficiencies in existing processes; and
- Design, implement and monitor business processes.
Qualifications
- CA or CPA designation with 10+ years of progressive and relevant experience in an accounting/finance function at an asset management and/or private markets investment firm, with at least 3 years of experience managing teams;
- Familiar with investment closings and asset management processes;
- Strong understanding of investment accounting and fund accounting standards and reporting practices;
- Self-motivated and adaptable to changing priorities and new challenges;
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task including management of concurrent workflows/projects;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and
- Knowledge of Investran and Yardi would be an asset.
