Geode Capital Management, LLC is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented
Benefits Specialist to join our dynamic Human Resources team. This role will support the full spectrum of the firm’s benefits and leave-of-absence programs, ensuring a seamless employee experience and strong compliance foundation. This individual contributor will play a key role in the day-to-day administration of our benefit offerings while enhancing processes and delivering high-quality service to employees.
Reporting to the Director of Benefits, Learning and Development, the Benefits Specialist will be an essential partner to HR operations and key HR initiatives.
This role is located in Boston, Massachusetts and is a hybrid work environment opportunity with a weekly in-office schedule of Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with remote work availability on Mondays and Fridays.
Responsibilities:
- Administer the firm’s benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans; serve as the primary point of contact for day‑to‑day employee inquiries and manage onboarding/offboarding enrollments to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Support ERISA requirements including 401(k) audits, Form 5500 filings, nondiscrimination testing, SARs, and ACA reporting
- Manage leave of absence and accommodations processes, partnering with employees, managers, and vendors to support requests and maintain proper documentation
- Lead open enrollment including administration in ADP
- Support benefits education and communication, including employee info sessions (virtual and in‑person), development of employee‑facing materials and building out SharePoint resources
- Oversee vendor activities, acting as the day‑to‑day vendor manager, coordinating risk questionnaires, Complementary User Entity Controls as well as claims and eligibility issues
- Maintain data integrity and reporting, including auditing benefit enrollments, reviewing EDIs, reconciling benefit billing, and partnering with Finance on monthly and quarterly utilization and budget reporting
- Analyze plan and utilization trends and prepare insights or summaries for HR leadership; participate in annual plan renewals, benchmarking, and ongoing benefits projects
- Maintain policies and documentation including plan documents and benefits guide updates as well as updates to the employee handbook
- Support wellness initiatives
Skills You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3-5 years of experience administering benefits and leave of absence administration
- Strong understanding of Human Resources processes, terminology, and benefit administration, including eligibility requirement and enrollment procedures
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Exceptional analytical skills and high level of attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly
- Strong organization skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and high volume of deadline-driven work
- Demonstrated ability to respond quickly and accurately to benefit-related escalations while providing outstanding customer service
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred
