Data Analyst Associate
The Data Analyst Associate will support the Research Team by leveraging technical skills and tools to ingest, clean, and analyze large datasets and ultimately glean insights from them. This role will report to the Director of Research. Candidates must be eager to experiment with ways to incorporate AI into their work to be more efficient and effective. RA Capital is looking for people who are proactive about using AI where possible, looking for new tools and even creating new tools; AI is transforming our work, and we are specifically looking for AI-forward people to ensure that we are leveraging these tools to make us as effective as possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage sourcing, collection, curation, and structuring of detailed scientific and financial data to facilitate competitive landscape analysis and other projects as needed.
- Efficiently pull from a myriad of databases, including internal proprietary databases, third-party subscription databases, and public databases to extract key data and supporting information.
- Identify inefficiencies in our processes and propose technical solutions to optimize them, primarily through automation.
- Partner with members of the TechAtlas and/or Investment Team to help scope analyses, distill take-aways, and identify actionable next steps.
- Lead one or more quantitative data analytics projects with input from manager and help design and build data visualizations as needed.
Education And Experience
- Bachelors Degree in data science, computer science, data analytics, software engineering or similar
- Prior internship or full-time experience (2 years or less). Preferred experience in biotech, life sciences or VC funds.
- Advanced knowledge of Python (pandas, web scraping, api integrations) and SQL
- Experience with Databricks and Sigma Computing for dashboard creation
- Flexibility to manage priorities on multiple simultaneous projects
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in written and oral formats to both internal and external audiences
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements focused on automating time-consuming and/or laborious tasks
- Must be based in Boston area; no relocation and local applicants only
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship or sponsorship transfers
Compensation
RA Capital Management is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Pay for this position will be based on experience, skills, qualifications, and current market conditions.
In addition to base salary (listed below), employees may be eligible for performance-based bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, retirement contributions, and paid time off.

$65,000 - $90,000 USD
