OVERVIEW:
The D. E. Shaw group seeks a highly motivated and entrepreneurial technical product manager to join its newly formed private equity venture, Cove. The product manager will work on leading product development for Cove’s internal technology platform and tools, with an emphasis on building a suite of AI-driven applications that support various investment and non-investment workstreams. This role offers a collegial working environment and the chance to collaborate with a highly creative, innovative, and inclusive team at the intersection of technology and investment management. As an early member of the team, the candidate also has the unique opportunity to shape its growth.
WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
You’ll be involved in all aspects of building new products for the fund’s staff to use in its investment activities. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams—including developers and business stakeholders—to ensure the seamless execution of technology initiatives. Your responsibilities will include defining product specs and roadmaps, managing project timelines, coordinating and occasionally executing technical implementations, and driving the integration of innovative tools that enhance investment workflows.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher, an impressive record of academic and professional achievement, and two to five years of experience are required.
- Candidates should have at least two years of experience in developing technology products alongside development teams and at least one year of experience in building workflow products that support business activities and processes.
- Experience in successfully taking a product from conception to completion, ideally in a startup environment, is required.
- Experience in reading and executing code, along with the ability to understand and oversee the technical aspects of product development, is essential. Direct developer experience is not required.
- At least some experience with leveraging LLMs to build features, tools, or products is required (personal experience is fine; it doesn't need to be for work or academic research).
- We seek candidates who have well-developed communication skills, a collaborative and entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to successfully manage multiple projects at once.
- Some experience in, or knowledge of, financial transactions and financial markets is a plus.
- The expected annual base salary for this position is $135,000 to $175,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401k contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
