Responsibilities
PJT Camberview, PJT Partners’ industry leading shareholder advisory business, provides investor-led advice to public company boards and management teams around the globe on shareholder engagement, strategic investor relations, activism and contested situations, ESG and sustainability and other complex corporate governance matters.
PJT Camberview seeks an experienced and highly motivated Managing Director to join our advisory team. The candidate should have a background in portfolio management and/or buy-side equity research. Ideally, the candidate will have significant portion of the experience as a long-only investor.
The individual in this role will be responsible for delivering high-value, differentiated advice to senior executives and directors at public companies through investor perspectives and analysis on a variety of topics including: corporate strategy, capital allocation, financial disclosure and guidance, and investor relations messaging and strategy. The candidate will demonstrate an ability to develop and translate a deep understanding of a business, an investment thesis and related debates, and current issues that a client may be facing into actionable advice and solutions.
Responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to, the following:
Lead Execution of Client Engagements
- Conduct analyses of fundamentals, investor challenges and investor messaging opportunities
- Conduct financial and valuation analyses to identify and develop creative solutions for clients that address misperceptions and other issues that may adversely impact valuation
- Deliver advice and present materials to senior client executives and directors across a range of fundamental topics
- Lead discussions with investors and analysts to gather perspectives on key debates surrounding a client’s investment thesis
- Assist companies in navigating complex investor relations situations and in articulating a compelling investment thesis to retain current shareholders and appeal to prospective shareholders, including through major investor events and ongoing investor engagement (earnings, NDRs etc.)
- Manage all aspects of day-to-day client engagements
- Establish and nurture client relationships, including through leading client calls
- Lead client teams in the development of supporting materials and analyses
- Effectively collaborate with business partners across the firm and efficiently leverage diverse expertise to address client issues
Support Senior Leaders in Business Development
- Assist in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities
- Participate in preparing for, and executing on, pitch meetings with potential clients
- Identify and work with Partners and Managing Directors to pursue ancillary business opportunities within existing client base
- Contribute intellectual leadership to enhance the firm’s brand in the market, including the development of thought pieces, analytical frameworks and other materials with broad applicability across existing and potential clients
- Participate in investor-related conferences, including as a speaker or panelist, to support connectivity to clients and identify potential client opportunities within conference attendees
Demonstrate a Leadership Role in Developing Talent
- Serve as a leader and mentor to junior team members, helping to develop the next generation of leaders
- Assist in identifying and recruiting new team members
Qualifications
We seek to hire individuals who are highly motivated and intelligent. Successful candidates will possess the following:
- 15+ years of work experience in an investor role as a portfolio manager and/or buyside equity research analyst
- Strong relationship skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Collaborative and team-oriented with sound judgment and strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to develop written presentations and thought leadership materials
- Track record of engagement with senior level executives and board members of public companies
- Ability to communicate effectively in presentations and express complex strategies in an organized and articulate manner
- Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
- Bachelor's Degree; with a strong academic record
- MBA or CFA a plus
Expected annualized base salary of $350,000 to $400,000.
This range represents the low and high ends of the expected annualized base salary for this position. The specific base salary received by any employee will be informed by a number of factors, including but not limited to, role level and scope, location, candidate’s relevant qualifications, skills and experience.
Base salary is one component of PJT Partners’ compensation structure. In addition to base salary, PJT Partners’ compensation structure may include additional rewards, incentives and benefits, including but not limited to, a discretionary bonus component.
