Job Description
The Ares Secondaries team specializes in secondary market transactions of private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and credit investments with AUM of approximately $26 billion as of June 30, 2024. The Portfolio Analytics team is currently looking to hire a Vice President to join our dynamic Finance team of approximately 45 professionals located in our West Hartford, CT, Boston, MA or New York, NY locations.
The Vice President will engage with key team members, including RE Secondaries Deal Team, Portfolio Management, Capital Markets, Legal, Compliance, Accounting, and Investor Relations. The candidate will be expected to understand complex fund structures and terms, private equity reporting, basic partnership accounting, and performance metrics. The ideal candidate will possess private equity or real estate fund or fund of funds experience alongside strong leadership and business stakeholder relationship skills. This role will require a dynamic, adaptive, and agile hands-on professional who will be capable of ensuring optimal processes in a fast-paced rapidly growing environment.
Primary functions and essential responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supervise and develop staff at all subordinate levels with demonstrated ability to work with others through challenges and career development while providing ongoing training and feedback
- Regularly review effectiveness of current processes and workflow, while proposing and implementing improvements
- Work with investment professionals to assist in deal closings and allocations across funds, as well as support ongoing portfolio construction and monitoring
- Perform detailed review of quarterly investment report valuations, including diversification metrics as well as valuation gains and losses
- Prepare or review documentation for quarterly investor reports, as well as performance returns at a portfolio and fund level (TWR, IRR, Multiples, etc.)
- Review and understand complex fund terms, vehicles, and structures
- Coordinate investment amendments/consents with investment professionals
- Participate on investment update calls and prepare/review memo summary
- Review data and provide guidance to Investor Relations as part of investor presentations and fundraising requests
Qualifications
Education:
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting
- MBA, CFA, or CPA is a plus
Experience Required:
- 10+ years of related financial experience is required, which may include public accounting
- 4+ years of experience working in the private equity or private real estate industry is strongly desired
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office, eFront Software is a plus

Compensation
The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
$180,000 - $200,000
