Job Description
Your Role
This role will lead the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (“SOX”) compliance program for three SEC registered Real Estate Investment Trusts managed by Invesco Ltd. As the point person for SOX compliance, this individual will quickly gain broad exposure to the operations of all three companies and interact with leaders in finance, accounting, technology, investment operations as well as with external and internal auditors to support the establishment of a consistent, repeatable, and sustainable SOX program.
You will be responsible for:
- Coordinating SOX compliance across the three Public Market Real Estate Funds
- Demonstrating knowledge of COSO control framework and serve as a subject-matter expert on Internal Controls over Financial Reporting
- Facilitating compliance with SOX by managing risk assessments, reviewing control designs, implementing control testing strategies, and evaluating and remediating internal control deficiencies
- Supporting internal and external audit related activities, including providing documentation for audits, explaining control design and reviewing operating results, discussions with control owners (where required), and evaluating any issues that may arise
- Providing timely and detailed status updates on control readiness, effectiveness, testing results, and remediation plans to management
- Leveraging technology effectively, leading the effort to bring consistency in the SOX database platform across the three funds
- Evaluating significant changes to the business, systems or the use of third-party service providers, working with control owners to ensure appropriate one-time and ongoing controls are implemented
The experience you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting / finance
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience
- Concentration in SOX compliance with a public company, working directly on design, implementation, remediation, and testing
- Knowledge of investment products and systems a plus
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision
