Overview
The Senior Investment Associate is responsible for the origination, analysis, execution and management of investment grade debt private placements for L&G Asset Management clients. This role will be primarily focused on a wide range of infrastructure issuers but will also help develop new investment opportunities within the structured finance and corporate sectors.
US Private Credit is part of a global team that is comprised of more than 50 investment professionals managing a growing global portfolio of more than $30 billion. The US team was founded in 2017 and is focused on covering transactions from issuers based in North America and Australia with a focus on infrastructure debt investments, corporate private placements, structured finance, and commercial mortgage loans. L&G Asset Management’s clients and affiliates have been increasing their demand for private investments and have made substantial commitments to grow the US private credit portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with colleagues in Chicago and London to originate, underwrite, execute, and manage infrastructure debt investment opportunities for our clients
- Filter potential investments determining suitability from the perspective of credit, value, duration, and overall portfolio fit
- Conduct fundamental investment due diligence including credit and legal analysis, prepare investment committee materials, and obtain required approvals
- Collaborate with internal partners, such as PMs, Ratings and Legal, to ensure investment opportunities are suitable for our clients and meet their respective investment guidelines
- Manage existing investments by reviewing regular financial and compliance reports, updating risk views in real time, and seeking waivers and approvals according to the relevant procedures
- Administer key internal and external counterparty and borrower relationships.
- Support the marketing process to raise capital from new clients and to develop investment solutions for borrowers and other market participants
- Assist the formulation of the broader investment strategy by identifying transactions and sub-sectors that could be appropriate investment targets for our clients
Qualifications
- The candidate is likely to have 5-7 years’ experience in buy-side debt private placements with experience across multiple sectors in infrastructure debt. Successful candidates may also have experience in a bank credit program or with an infrastructure sponsor
- The role requires reviewing large numbers of transactions to identify suitable investments that align with our focus on structure, credit, and relative value and to structure bilateral transactions in house as required
- The candidate will need to be organized, focused, and self-motivated with strong communication and analytical skills
- Demonstrable expertise in investment diligence, with knowledge in identifying credit risks, rating agency methodologies, reviewing and negotiating legal documentation, and analyzing financial models
Salary Range
$130,000 - $160,000
The starting salary offer will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to the applicant’s education, job-related experience, skills, and abilities, geographic location, and market factors. This position is also eligible to participate in the company’s annual discretionary bonus plan.
