OVERVIEW:
D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments (“DESRI”) is seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to join its team as an asset management analyst or associate, title to be commensurate based on experience. DESRI is a market-leading owner and operator of renewable energy projects throughout the United States. We have acquired or developed approximately 10 gigawatts of contracted capacity across a portfolio of over 70 renewable energy projects in 24 states. This role is based in our Denver office, though the option to work remotely may be available. The role also provides the opportunity to participate in the development, acquisition, and management of renewable energy assets in an inclusive and engaging work environment. WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
You will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of renewable energy generation assets. Responsibilities include managing financial performance, optimizing operational efficiency, monitoring contract compliance, and counterparty reporting. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices; assess the financial health of renewable energy assets; coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to identify and resolve any operational issues or equipment failures promptly; develop and implement strategies to improve asset reliability, availability, and performance; and conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
You’ll monitor revenue generation, operating costs, and budget adherence; prepare financial reports and forecasts, identifying opportunities to optimize revenue streams; and collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with financial regulations.
You’ll also manage contracts and agreements related to renewable energy generation assets; monitor contract compliance, including performance guarantees, maintenance obligations, and reporting requirements; and collaborate with legal and procurement teams to negotiate and review contracts.
You’ll monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and conduct analysis, develop and implement strategies to maximize energy output, minimize equipment failures, and extend asset lifespan. Staying updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and leverage new opportunities will be essential for this role.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, renewable energy, business administration, or a related field is required. A master’s degree in any of these fields is a plus.
- Intellectually curious candidates with a passion for optimization and proven experience in asset management, operations, or project management within the renewable energy industry, will thrive in this role.
- Deep knowledge of renewable energy technologies, industry regulations, and best practices is essential.
- Familiarity with financial analysis, budgeting, and contract management; impressive analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; and a keen attention to detail are required.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and experience in a role involving multitasking and problem solving in a fast-paced environment is highly preferred.
- Quarterly travel to your assigned assets, in addition to team meetings and stakeholder meetings, will be required.
- The expected annual base salary for this position is $90,000 to $130,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, paid time off, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
