OVERVIEW:
D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments (“DESRI”) is seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to join its Denver-based Special Projects team as an analyst or associate (title commensurate with experience). DESRI is a market-leading owner and operator of renewable energy projects throughout the United States. We have acquired or developed approximately 10 gigawatts of contracted capacity across a portfolio of over 70 renewable energy projects in 24 states. As an analyst or associate, you’ll play a vital role in researching potential technical solutions, identifying and managing special projects, and analyzing market trends to drive strategic decision-making. WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
In this role, you’ll be responsible for researching potential technical solutions for renewable energy projects, including solar and wind repowers, co-located battery opportunities, and other ad hoc analyses. You’ll also contribute to financial modeling efforts by evaluating project economics, costs, and potential returns; preparing financial reports and analyses to inform commercial and operational strategies; and analyzing data to support the identification and evaluation of new development opportunities. You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, legal, and finance, to facilitate project milestones. You’ll also help develop forward-looking assessments of new market opportunities, gathering real-time market feedback and performing market analyses. You’ll be responsible for maintaining organized project databases and ensuring we remain compliant with industry standards.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in engineering and at least one to three years of relevant experience. An MBA is beneficial but not required.
- Proficiency in modeling in Microsoft Excel, impressive analytical and research skills, and keen attention to detail are critical for this role.
- Prior solar/renewables operations experience is a plus, as is having a baseline understanding of power/energy markets and the ability to successfully manage stakeholder processes.
- The expected annual base salary for this position is $90,000 to $130,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits, including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401k contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
