BlackRock’s EPM business includes private equity, secondaries and real estate equity.
BlackRock is seeking to hire a marketing professional to focus on developing and delivering the commercial narrative for EPM. The professional in this role will be first and foremost an excellent storyteller. The role is responsible for setting and driving marketing and communications strategy in conjunction with firm-wide marketing and communications teams and overseeing the development of the EPM brand, with the goal of positioning BlackRock as the #1 private equity partner in the industry. The team is accountable for strengthening EPM’s positioning, enabling positive commercial outcomes and driving profitable growth for the firm.
This role will establish a new vision for marketing programs that promotes a cohesive platform, delivers fresh insights to clients, and reaches new audiences in innovative ways. Event strategy will be a key component of the role.
The ideal candidate thrives in a multi-faceted role and demonstrates a passion for private markets investments, an entrepreneurial spirit, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a very strong appreciation for industry leading client communications, messaging and events.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a best-in-class client and key internal BlackRock stakeholder communications strategy for the EPM business with the goal of building EPM’s brand as a leading private markets provider.
- Collect and analyze marketing KPIs to improve overall program effectiveness, and client satisfaction, lead generation and pipeline growth.
- Develop ideas and robust approaches for better understanding our clients’ needs and how we most effectively communicate with them.
- Lead liaison between EPM and centralized marketing and communications teams.
- Collate all the investment and market insights from across EPM and other areas of the firm and elevate the key insights and messaging, which link to current market drivers. Work to link investment insights across businesses to showcase the power of BlackRock insights across business functions.
- Creation of compelling written content in multiple formats such as social, speeches, white papers and internal communications.
- Develop consistent and compelling messaging which runs through all formats – event, conference, written, web, video and social.
- Identify path to come to market in new, more impactful ways utilizing digital technology, virtual and social media using innovative tools to capture mindshare.
- Coordination and leadership in developing interesting webcasts with investment professionals for existing and prospective clients
- Drive a cohesive events and conference strategy that aligns to EPM’s strategic growth priorities.
- Key involvement in the organization and execution of BlackRock hosted client events, including but not limited to annual general meetings (AGM). Develop compelling agendas and work with speakers to create engaging, differentiating session formats.
- Lead cross-functionally to oversee seamless execution of large-scale, strategic event programs, including objective setting, experience design, agenda development, speaker prep, client messaging and communications and measurement and follow-up.
- Oversee external sponsorship agreements in conjunction with firm-wide marketing functions with selected vendors, working across firmwide marketing teams in some cases to optimize ROI, and manage end-to-end brand experience including speaker / content selection and management, and thought leadership promotion.
- Develop marketing and communications best practices to institutionalize and scale processes across the business.
Skills And Qualification
- A skilled story teller in both verbal and written communications across a number of formats – including and not limited to social media, white papers, key note speeches, internal communications.
- Ability to sort through large amounts of information and synthesize key points, join the dots and create compelling, simple narratives which capture mind share
- Experience running large scale events across cross-functional teams in multiple geographies
- Can demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit and a “yes, and” mindset. Can showcase high degree of emotional ownership. Self-starter with ability to manage beyond formal authority and through complexity.
- Successful track record of originating and building go-to-market programs that incorporate marketplace analysis, strategic and tactical business plans, understanding of client needs, and integrated marketing tactics as well as metrics for return on marketing investment and assessment of business impact
- The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of the Alternatives investment industry and of the markets, including a deep understanding of current topics of interest among investors
- Comfortable operating within matrix organizational structure and demonstrated ability to influence diverse and extended teams without direct reporting lines
- Effectively manage industry and third-party relationships
For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $137,500 - $194,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
