Purpose: Contributes to the success of the US Loan Trading Desk which is a part of Global Fixed Income ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are following governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures
What You’ll Do
- Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Support the US Loan Syndication franchise through trading in the loan market.
- Drive revenue and trading volumes through interactions with our clients and prudent risk taking.
- Support CLO and TRS businesses by providing liquidity to internal platforms.
- Fosters new and existing client relationships in addition to cross-selling existing relationships across other areas and product groups.
- Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Manage trading inventories and generate trading revenues in compliance with limits and the bank’s risk profile.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What You’ll Bring
- Holds relevant bachelor’s degree (Commerce, Finance, Economics, Mathematics or related discipline)
- CFA designation an asset
- SIE, Series 7 and Series 63 licenses.
- Associated Person of swap dealer. NFA Swap Proficiency Requirement within 30 days
- Strong financial and computer literacy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask, excellent problem resolution and time management skills
- Ability to respond to enquiries quickly and effectively with confidence
- Strong work ethic with a high level of attention to detail
- Energetic with a keen desire to learn new concepts
