The Principal / Vice President will join the New York-based corporate credit team of Blue Owl Insurance Solutions (“BOIS”), which provides 3rd party asset management services to the regulated insurance industry. We are seeking an experienced investment grade private credit originator, structurer and underwriter focused on new private credit investment opportunities and fixed income portfolio management. This position is well-suited for an investment professional with strong transactional experience or a banker with strong credit and deal structuring experience. This individual will contribute meaningful leadership and support to a growing team while continuing to develop their own leadership and investment competencies.
The Principal / Vice President will be an integral member of the Private Corporate Credit team, sitting within the Blue Owl Credit investment platform and primarily supporting BOIS. Blue Owl Insurance Solutions offers comprehensive solutions across Investment Grade Corporate Credit, Asset-Backed Finance, Commercial Real Estate Lending and Structured Products to support the unique investment, regulatory and reporting needs of Blue Owl’s insurance clients. This person will work closely with senior members of the team to source and underwrite new investment opportunities, exert deal structuring capabilities, conduct portfolio surveillance, and assist in the general management of a fast-growing investment grade private credit portfolio. Target investments include private investment grade corporate credit, net asset value (“NAV”) Loans, Collateralized Fund Obligations (“CFOs”), Credit Tenant Leases (“CTLs”), preferred stock, private hybrids, IG direct lending, project finance, infrastructure and alternative credit investments across a broad range of industry sectors.
The Principal / Vice President is expected to become increasingly adept, and quickly lead, in the areas of investment due diligence, deal structuring, legal documentation, and will have opportunities to manage new investments from inception to maturity. You will be a core member of an established, high-performing private corporate credit investment team and will have significant professional growth opportunities in a supportive, collaborative, and dynamic organization.
Responsibilities
- Contributing to team’s new deal origination efforts by managing existing relationships and building their own networks of potential sources of deal flow
- Managing and expanding relationships with various sources of deal flow
- Deep analysis of new credit investments and driving transaction execution including diligence, underwriting and post-close surveillance
- Ability to identify and articulate both the risks and merits of new private credit investment opportunities
- Capital structure and relative value analysis and creative deal structuring aimed at maximizing principal protection for our investments
- Deepen existing industry knowledge in areas of fund finance, industrials, project finance and other segments of private markets
- Exhibit high attention to detail and discipline to produce error free work on a consistent basis with minimal oversight from more experienced portfolio managers
- Experience (or desire to develop) a strong understanding of investing for regulated insurance companies, including new developments within the various industry rule-making bodies
- Provide ongoing surveillance for portion of existing credit portfolio that will grow as new deals are successfully underwritten and managed by the Vice President
- Prepare presentations and other materials to address client reporting and investment monitoring needs
- Support oversight of external asset managers responsible for managing a portfolio of public investment grade corporate credit
- Work on specific tasks or group projects including industry research, presentations, and portfolio analysis
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including asset allocation, operations, legal, accounting, development and technology
Qualifications
Experience
- 5 - 7+ of relevant work experience, including at least three years of direct credit investing, banking, capital markets, direct lending or private equity experience
- Firm understanding of capital structure, loan/note documentation, rating profile assessment
- Significantly broad experience analyzing idiosyncratic credit and ability to apply macro views to anticipate potential challenges and opportunities within credit
- MBA with an excellent academic record; strong candidates with bachelor's degree considered

It is expected that the base annual salary range for this New York City-based position will be $175,000 to $200,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
