Description
The Analyst/Associate will assist the Washington, D.C. based securitized products group with the execution of Invictus' securitization and capital markets strategy. The desired candidate should have a strong aptitude for analytics and financial markets as well as an ability to execute multiple responsibilities in a heavily deadline-driven environment while maintaining a flexible attitude. This position provides the opportunity for maximum exposure in the company as well as hands-on experience in residential credit and structured finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal and external parties (such as investment banks, rating agencies, law firms, accountants) to successfully execute Non-Agency Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities (RMBS) transactions.
- Analyze loan attributes and eligibility criteria to determine the composition of loan pools.
- Contribute to the structuring of securitization transactions by determining pool sizes, loan diversification, and other relevant factors such as rating agency criteria and constraints.
- Conduct cash flow analysis and modeling to project transaction performance and support transaction execution.
- Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of loan tapes, offering documents, prospectuses, and other materials for securitization issuance.
- Validate data integrity and perform quality control checks on loan-level data during collateral tape creation. Perform and contribute to complex tie-out processes with investment banks, rating agencies, and accounting firms as part deal issuance.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, capital markets execution, and regulatory requirements in the residential mortgage loan and RMBS sectors.
- Collaborate with technology and data teams to streamline and automate tape creation and pool management processes.
- Contribute analysis to support investment decisions in the residential whole loan and non-agency mortgage securities sectors for private credit funds.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- 2-3 years of experience in project finance, rating agency, investment banking or other analytical position
- Bachelor's degree or higher in an analytical discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Strong analytical and quantitative background
- Knowledge of cash flow analysis and financial modeling
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency or prior working knowledge of SQL strongly preferred
- Prior experience with Intex software (IntexCalc, DealMaker) is a plus but not a necessity
- Familiarity with residential mortgage loans and/or structured finance concepts would be preferred
- Familiarity with Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities (RMBS), Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS), or Asset-Backed Securities (ABS) offering documents is a plus but not a necessity
- Intellectual curiosity in the financial services and securitized products industry; knowledge of financial markets helpful
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and to manage multiple responsibilities and requests
