Compensation Range
Hourly: $25.70 - $30.30 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)
The Wealth Management Middle Office Utility is a primary point of contact supporting our File Room, Bill Pay, and IRA Teams at Commerce Trust Company. The primary focus of the Middle Office Utility is providing support to the internal Bill Pay Department by acting as a backup for the various processing desks to cover volume spikes, vacations, and unplanned absences. The position also assists with adhoc reports, projects and special requests as needed. The Middle Office Utility plays a key role in how customers form their first impressions of the Trust Company. This requires excellent relationship building skills, critical thinking, and the ability to make sound and prudent judgment on a simple perception of a situation. This role also requires excellent attention to detail along with a broad range of industry knowledge. The Middle Office Utility has responsibilities that include processing functional work, desk coverage throughout the department, building relationships within and across teams, process improvements, and project management. They are also a proactive resource for other Team Members and partner areas providing guidance, instruction, direction and leadership for the purpose of fostering teamwork and achieving alignment and key results.
Essential Functions
- Provide support to the internal Bill Pay department by acting as a backup for the various processing desks to cover volume spikes, vacations, and unplanned absences
- Assist with ad-hoc reports, projects and special requests as needed
- Process various work items including but not limited to Bill Pay, cost basis, IRA distributions, cash receipts, asset pending, file room duties, quality review, and ad-hoc requests
- Drive process improvements and documentation, projects and testing
- Provide guidance and foster teamwork with other team members and across teams
- Cross-train and document procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Intermediate knowledge of the wealth operations field, including best practices
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to execute
- Strong business acumen and the ability to make timely and sound business recommendations
- Excellent customer service skills across a wide variety of disciplines and backgrounds to help achieve results
- Ability to resolve problems and identify and drive process improvements
- Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

- Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- 3+ years finance or investment industry experience required

At Commerce, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay is $25.70 to $30.30 per hour.
