Salary: $10,370.00 - $12,367.00
This position is eligible for an annual incentive award and Charter Financial Analyst (CFA) pay differential. The annual incentive opportunity is 20% of salary and is based on the level of achievement against several quantitative and qualitative measures. Permanent full-time employees who possess certification as a CFA may receive a 5% monthly base pay differential.

Job Description And Duties
CalPERS, the nation’s largest public pension fund with over $500 billion in assets and over 2 million members, sustainable investing is central to our mission of delivering promised pension benefits to those who have served California for decades. In November 2023, CalPERS committed to investing $100 billion in climate solutions by 2030, and further integrating ESG analysis across its investment process. This commitment aims to enhance portfolio resilience and achieve financial outperformance while supporting the decarbonization of the real economy.
The Sustainable Investments unit is seeking an Investment Officer III (IO III) to help implement this ambitious strategy, with a focus on public asset classes (global public equity and debt). Duties Include But Are Not Limited To:
- Design, develop, and maintain sustainability and climate risk dashboards using tools like Excel, VBA, Python, Power BI, and SQL to assess ESG factors and climate risks across CalPERS’ portfolio.
- Implement data quality controls, incorporate global reporting standards (e.g., TCFD, GRI), and collaborate with experts to monitor and report on sustainability and climate risk trends.
- Support the due diligence, selection, and monitoring of climate-themed active investment strategies, analyzing performance using tools like FactSet or Bloomberg, and contributing to the preparation of investment committee recommendation memos.
Telework Information: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.
