MEAG New York Corporation (MEAG NY) is a an indirect subsidiary of Munich Re. MEAG NY is an internal asset manager having responsibility for the US and Canadian dollar invested assets of Munich Re and its direct and indirect subsidiaries. MEAG NY provides investment advisory services with respect to fixed income instruments and derivatives for Munich Re with over $40 billion in assets under management.

The Portfolio Administrator is responsible for the Trade Settlement, Reconciliation, and Master Data functions which include: Acting as a liaison between MEAG NY, custodian banks, and the broker/dealer community to ensure timely trade settlement, dispute resolution, and ultimate settlement of all trade activity; daily and monthly reconciliation of transactions and holdings between SCD and the custodian banks, respectively; all tasks related to Cash Management Support and Collateral Management Support; creation and maintenance of master data in SCD. This individual is also responsible for providing reconciled portfolio cash balances to Portfolio Management each morning and acting as a liaison between the clients and their service providers (e.g. custody banks, clearing brokers, collateral managers) with respect to reporting, trade settlement, and long box management. As part of MEAG NY’s Assets under Administration (AuA) services, this individual is responsible for uploading all trade activity to SCD for portfolios outsourced to external Asset Managers, as well as collaborating with those entities to resolve all trade file delivery/formatting/data integrity problems, when necessary. Lastly, this individual will represent Operations on global and local projects, managing/leading those initiatives when needed, and provide back-up coverage for all Securities Administration functions.
Major Accountabilities:
- Confirm the details of all trade activity with counterparties via DTCC Central Trade Manager (CTM), telephone, or email and provide trade instructions to counterparties and custody banks via SSCNet platform, email, or facsimile.
- Act as a liaison between MEAG NY, custody banks, and the Broker/Dealer community to ensure timely trade settlement and dispute resolution; coordinate with Portfolio Management on the revision of trade details in SCD and generation of revised trade tickets for manual trade instructions to banks, as needed.
- Monitor/track failed trades and coordinate with Portfolio Management and the Broker/Dealer community to resolve accordingly. Maintain log of all failed trades, as well as their current status, and distribute internally by close-of-business each day. Validate and/or initiate all claims related to failed trades (i.e. TMPG, account overdrafts), as needed.
- Coordinate with MEAG NY Data, Technology, and Reporting (DTR) on all maintenance/updates needed for the generation/distribution of data feeds to CTM and SSCNet in support of post-trade STP workflows.
- Reconcile daily cash balances and transactions, as well as monthly holdings, between SCD and the custodian banks. Identify, research, and resolve all exceptions using various tools, including eSTaARS, Bloomberg, monthly remittance reports, and custodian bank websites.
- Provide daily portfolio cash balances to Portfolio Management each morning by reconciling prior day settled and same-day projected transactions reported by the custodian banks. Process all client cash flows in SCD accordingly.
- Act as liaison between clients and their Collateral Managers to facilitate daily margin/collateral reporting and long box funding, as well as provide clients with a daily summary of margin requirements.
- Represent Operations in all cross-departmental, firm-wide, and global projects impacting client portfolios and related data, managing or leading those initiatives, when needed.
- As part of MEAG NY’s Assets under Administration (AuA) services, upload all trade activity to SCD for portfolios outsourced to external Asset Managers and collaborate with those entities to resolve all trade file delivery/formatting/data integrity problems, when necessary. Reconcile daily cash balances and transactions, as well as monthly holdings, between SCD and the custodian banks. Identify and research all exceptions using various tools, including eSTaARS, Bloomberg, and custodian bank websites. Report all discrepancies and coordinate resolution with external Asset Managers, as needed.
- Provide guidance and training to junior/temporary staff.
- Provide back-up coverage for all Securities Administration functions.
Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree (Economics, Accounting, Finance, or other business-related discipline preferred)
- 2-5 years of Portfolio Administration/Operations/Accounting experience
- Advanced knowledge of investment management systems (preferably SCD or similar systems like Aladdin, SS&C PORTIA, CAMRA, Advent, Invest One, etc.)
- Advanced knowledge of fixed income and derivative instruments
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (advanced proficiency in Excel a plus)
- Some project experience
- Good organizational and follow-up skills with attention to detail
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to be assertive, when needed
The salary range posted below applies to the Company’s NYC location.
The base salary range anticipated for this position is $63,750 - $106,250 plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in NYC. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
