A day in the life
Our Accounting team oversees the company’s financial well-being while supporting operational and business planning in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. We are entrusted to properly account for and report the business activity at our growing company.
As an Accountant in our downtown Denver office, you will be a part of a global accounting team and will be responsible for reviewing and processing lease accounting activity in your assigned area. You will be given the opportunity to perform multiple assignments and utilize critical thinking to account for and analyze new lease activity and straight-line rent leveling. We are looking for someone who is a team player with a desire to learn and a customer service mindset.
Key responsibilities include:
- Understand lease setup in property management system (Yardi) and verify accuracy against executed lease document(s).
- Prepare and enter journal entries into PeopleSoft accounting system in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Completely and accurately process financial activity for customers that move out.
- Validate the accuracy of system-generated lease rent leveling calculations in accordance with US GAAP and company policies.
- Accurately complete monthly close within two days and meet all other established deadlines.
- Utilize various financial systems effectively to complete assigned tasks, including Peoplesoft, Sigma, Smartsheet, and Yardi.
- Support our internal and external audit teams and assist with quarterly financial statement review.
- Help facilitate improvements to onboarding, training, and daily tasks.
- Opportunity to develop additional areas of knowledge by assisting external reporting and property accounting teams on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Participate in SOX testing on a rotating basis to contribute to internal control compliance as a company.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Building blocks for success
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in hand or within 6 months of graduating in Accounting from a four-year college or university with the ability to apply relevant Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Exposure to basic Excel and adept at learning new systems.
- Ability to engage supervisor for guidance of workload prioritization.
- Conscientious and detail-oriented to produce accurate financial data.
- Strong work ethic with demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative manner.
- Ability to learn and apply organizational traits for timely completion of assignments.
- Customer service focus, both internal and external, with demonstrated ability to work effectively across multiple functional, cultural and management levels (oral and written).
Hiring Salary Range of $60,000 - $83,000. Salary and whole compensation package (bonus target) to be determined by the candidate’s location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
