The Team:
The Data Strategy Team leverages unique datasets and data science tools to produce differentiated and actionable insights around industry trends, key performance indicators, and stock-moving catalysts. We exclusively support the Equity Research department and collaborate closely with our analysts to focus on key debates throughout our coverage and ground our logic in their expertise.
Jefferies US Biotech and Pharma Research is among the top-ranked in the industry. In Institutional Investor’s 2024 survey, we ranked first in both Large and SMID Cap Biotech, and second in Spec Pharma. We have ten publishing analysts, four of whom are II ranked (one triple-ranked, another double-ranked), collectively covering ~230 companies.
The Role:
This role will be responsible for building and applying clinical trial prediction frameworks, with the goal of helping our fundamental analysts apply statistical tools to evaluate trial Probability of Success. The candidate will collaborate closely with fundamental analysts to understand key trials in their coverage, identify and structure relevant data for modeling, develop statistical methods to predict trial success and understand areas of sensitivity in trial design, and assist analysts in incorporating findings.

Responsibilities:
- Engage with analysts to understand key trials in their coverage, their investment theses around sponsoring companies, and nuances between binary endpoints and market expectations.
- Collaborate with fundamental analysts and Data Strategy teammates to identify and ingest relevant data from public and third-party sources.
- Develop statistical methods to model clinical trials and quantify probability of success, with emphasis on building reusable tools.
- Communicate technical implementation and results to non-technical stakeholders, with heavy use of visualizations, and help translate model outputs into investment implications.
Qualifications
- MD or PhD/MS in life sciences, biostatistics, or similar.
- Intimate understanding of clinical trial structures and design considerations.
- Experience modeling clinical trials, evaluating their design as it relates to probability of success, PK/PD analysis.
- Strong proficiency with Python, R, or similar programming languages and stats packages.
- Ability to communicate effectively and translate ideas with stakeholders across the spectrum of statistical and scientific literacy.
- A working knowledge of, or demonstrated interest in, economics, business, or investing.
Primary Location Full Time Salary Range of
$110,000 - $160,000.
The salary offered will take into consideration an individual’s experience level and qualifications.
